  • Great food, nice people.

“It is the best Chinese restaurant I can find in the area. I ordered their Hong Kong style walnut shrimp (must try!) and the portion was perfect for me. I guess people who said the portion was too small may be comparing with other cheap buffet Chinese restaurant, but Cathay Kitchen is not a buffet restaurant. In addition to usual dishes, they have other special kinds of Chinese food. My friend ordered Wonton noodle in soup and it does taste like what we had in Hong Kong, what a surprise! I will come again and try some other special food next time.”

  • Tables and floor were clean and deco was nice.
  • Overpriced entrees and slow service.

“Service was slow and the portions were small for the price. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and fried dumplings and I have to say I wasn't impressed. Next time I'm going to another restaurant. You should also...”

  • The young fellow acting as waiter tried (I felt sorry for him).
  • Although ordered MSG free food, food had MSG anyway & was too salty, inexperienced staff/cook.

“We visited Cathay Kitchen Restaurant on August 26, 2006 based upon the former reviews. The following points need to be made: 1. The waiter told us they DO use MSG. We requested it be left out of all foods. We ordered Shrimp Chow Mein & Mongolian Beef with stir fried rice. 2. Upon arrival of the modest portions, the Mongolian Beef was too salty to eat. The rice also had excessive saltiness. Upon getting the attention of the waiter, and reporting the difficulty, he replied, "I guess they added MSG anyway, but I told them not to." We sent back the beef dish. I did not eat the rice. We did eat the average tasting Shrimp Chow Mein. 3. The staff and cook appeared to be inexperienced young persons working for the owner (a Help Wanted sign was in the window). This was a bad experience. The adage "If you want good food, find a busy restaurant" seems to be true as there was only one other customer in the place.”

  • Smells great when you walk in the door and you don't leave hungry.
  • Pretty busy sometimes, but not usually a long wait.

“Best dumplings, soup, and sesame chicken. My boyfriend likes the sub gum soup, and the hot dishes like Szechwan Scallops or Szechwan pork. ”

“Excellent food and service. My husband and I love Chinese food and our kids like chicken strips and fries. At Cathay we can all get what we want. Everything is fresh and made onsite. Staff is friendly, and you can have a glass of wine, or have a drink with dinner if you want. Near the mall and the interstate.”

“Best Chinese restaurant in the area. It has been ranked as the best Chinese restaurant in Cincinnati Magazine and for good reason I want to add my endorsement. Fresh food, no MSG, great service, unique and traditional dishes. Raymond Luke and his staff do a fantastic job. If you are not sure what to order, ask Raymond to make a recommendation. If you have family members with you that do not like Chinese food, Raymond will make something special for them . The restaurant is just two minutes off of I-75 near the Florence Mall. We have many friends that travel from Columbus Ohio or Lexington Kentucky to eat here.
