“From the moment we entered the gate of Basted, we knew that we were in for something special. We were greeted with a friendly face, carrying two exquisite champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne. We were offered a seat in the garden area. As we sipped our champagne and nibbled on delicious bread sticks, we couldn't wait to see what our dinner would entail. We were brought to our table in the dining area. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you felt like you were the only two people in the restaurant. Every dish was described to us in detail. The wine that was pared with each dish was fantastic. The presentation of the food was gorgeous. They are two very talented individuals that are for sure. The food, wine, cheese and dessert were something that we had never experienced before. We walked away with a full stomach and a feeling inside that you knew you had just experienced something that you had never experienced before. It is indescribable. Basted - all I can say is "keeps doing what you're doing". You will go down in history as the best restaurant in Los Angeles!”

“The food was amazing, the wine was tremendous and the cost was outrageous. But well worth it. I was there on New Year's Eve and had a great time. The food was out of this world, atmosphere was beautiful and the patrons gorgeous. There was this mesmerizing young Asian woman, like a better-looking version of Lucy Liu, who barely looked old enough to be drinking all the wine she was packing away. But pound away she did. I thought they would just bring her a funnel and let her skip the food altogether. But she looked like she was having a good time, although it did seem for some reason as though she should be living on the East Coast. She was fun to watch.” 1 of 8 people found this review helpful.

“Seems like a magical restaurant the moment you walk in. The street outside is quiet and serene, the olive trees in the front garden should be in Spain, not L.A., the little fountains gurgle nicely with pretty fish, and the plantings are all fragrant herbs in ridiculously good health.
