“We've been going to Daytona Beach for 15 years now and Aunt Catfish was great in its day, which has long past been over. We had a bad experience 2 years ago and decided to try it again for old times sake. Wrong! Portions we're smaller, prices higher, the food doesn't taste the same, its just full of flavor like it used to be. Sitting downstairs on the outer wall was awesome, you were close to the water and its a really beautiful setting. Years ago, they had a band that played out on the dock with nice seating, gone now. The upstairs is definitely not nicer. If anything, its worse, it was hot, cramped, the steps leading up were very steep and dangerous, not for the elderly.”

“I've been there four times while in the Daytona area on long weekends and such. I've had one normal experience: decent food, good cleanliness, and good service. The other three visits fell short. Some portions are really small. It's best to look and see what other patrons have on their plates. All but one in my party ordered the Rock Shrimp special for $8.99 because it sounded so good the way the waitress explained it. We figured specials are usually better those regular menu entrees, so this would be good. WRONG! A dozen shrimp that were so small their total weight couldnt/t have been 3 oz including the shells. Shells are split open and shrimp are supposedly de-veined, but they aren't. They're so thin they looked squashed flat enough to be part of the plate. They didn't taste remotely like shrimp. I shelled all of mine into a little pile that amounted to two forkfuls of meat. Another super lightweight entree was the Cajun Catfish Fillets for $11.99. Two little fillets on a great big plate. Together they might have been enough to make a sandwich out of. On a previous lunch about a year ago, the air-conditioned dining room was filled with flies buzzing around. The Hot Bar food sits and cooks to a mushy death. Out of the dozens and dozens of plates at the Hot Bar, nobody in my group could find one that was clean. All were grimy. The service is fine for a family oriented, casual old place that staffs mostly high school age waitresses. But I can't handle grimy plates and tiny, tasteless portions. I won't go back again now and neither will my company that left laughing, but disgusted. We were going to send the food back and reorder, but the fact that they could've even served those things they called shrimp was enough to make us run for the hills. I will just never go back.”

“I had a great time at Aunt Catfish's on the River. The view is great, which helps with its romance rating, plus, I believe that there is an upstairs that may be a bit fancier than the downstairs. The food is great, but the value for your money depends on what you have to eat. Some plates are bigger than others. As for the Business Traveler? I don't do anything like that, so I wouldn't know what would make a good fit for them. Lots of food, lots of fun! I would recommend at least trying it out!” Popular Restraurants in Port OrangeView all restaurants in Port Orange
