  • A fun place to go for the occasional fried catfish craving.
  • Service can be rushed. Not much that's green on the menu.

“A trip to Old McDonald's Fish camp is a planned excursion. It's only opened Thursday through Saturday and to say it is remote is an understatement! Way, way out of the way it's not a place you drive by and decide to drop in for a bite. Yet unless you get there early there is usually a wait. For a place that a "fer piece" away it's insanely popular. Very rustic - it's surrounded by farm animals (mostly in large pens) and catfish ponds. My kids always like feeding the giant fish from the deck while we wait. No fear - they don't scoop those mega fish out for the menu, all their catfish is bought from local catfish farms as my kids found out when they asked. The fare is basic fried fish and other seafood served with the typical sides like real baked potatoes, cold slaw, or fries. My friend likes the raw oysters but they serve them up in a lettuce lined bowl so it looks like a dish of whale luggies. If you don't do fried fish, I think you can request the food broiled for an extra surcharge. All you care to eat grits and hush puppies round out the menu. Basic southern fried fare for sure. My French mother in law was offended by the tea served in a mason jar! Overall, a good place to take your sophisticated New York friends and a great place if you like fried catfish.”
