• Atmosphere, nice menu.
• Smoking policy.

“I sent the following complaint to the county Health Depart On Sunday evening of August 2nd, I had dinner at the Retreat restaurant in Liverpool with some friends and family, including my 78 year old mother who has emphysema. We ate in the outside dining area. During the course of the dinner, the three tables surrounding us had people smoking. In fact, one table had two men smoking cigars. The smoke was not only annoying, but affected my mother's breathing because of her emphysema. I called the manager over to complain and point out that they are in violation of state regulations and he disagreed. He said that as long as the smokers do not occupy more than 25% of the area, its allowed. I went online this morning to recheck the regulations and he is wrong. They are required to have a designated smoking area (which they do not) at least 3 feet away from the non-smoking area and the smoking area is clearly designated by signage (which it is not). I am requesting that your office contact the Retreat requiring their compliance with state regulations on smoking.”

• The food and menu are outstanding. Prices are extremely reasonable and service is always friendly and on the ball.
• Nothing.

“I love to eat and enjoy my time with friends at this restaurant! I feel the food and service is outstanding. For all those that are disappointed in the fact that there is smoking on the patio. Eat inside! That is the reason we smokers have been banished to the outdoors in the first place. Last I checked it was still legal to smoke out of doors!”

• Outdoors is rather small area.

“Food and service were wonderful and I was so happy that the outside was open since the weather was lovely the night we dined. I was happy to find a place where they allow smoking outside, it was refreshing to be able to sit down to a nice meal with friends My only gripe was that people were rude to me when I was smoking, if it is allowed I will do it and I don't believe it is right to be nasty to someone who is not bothering you.”

• The Food!
• Smoking.

“I love this restaurant! My family and I always go there every chance we get. The food is excellent especially the Philly Cheese Steak. People say the service is bad but this is false. The waiter they had probably had a bad night.”

“We have eaten at the Retreat many times over the years and have never had poor service or bad food. The servers are always friendly and efficient and on the ball. We love it, especially at Christmas when the decorations are beautiful. We will continue to eat there as long as they serve food.”

• Excellent food, friendly service.
• Smoking allowed outside.

“The Retreat has always been a favorite restaurant for my wife and I. Now that the weather is nicer we were very excited to go to the Retreat and sit outside on the deck. However, we were completely disappointed to find out that smoking was allowed out there. The area is much too small for this and completely ruined it for us. Unfortunately we will not be back unless this is changed. I'm hoping many others feel the same way.”

• Smoking outside under the covered part of the dining area.

“Very upset that there was smoking allowed in the covered outdoor section of the restaurant.

I am not a smoker and this was upsetting.”
