“We went in, got seated and waited for almost twenty minutes before we left because no one had come to take our drink order or even acknowledge we were there. They weren't that busy but the tables were way too close together.”

“I've been going to Charlie's since I was a young girl (over 30 years ago) growing up in KY. Al of the food at Charlie's is excellent - steaks, burgers, chicken, etc. but of course, the steaks are top-notch. I even get cravings for their salad - YUM! Now that I live in the Nashville-area, we still meet friends and family at Charlie's for special occasions, and enjoy introducing a whole new generation of our family to the great food at Charlie's. It opens at 4:00 pm, so get in line. If you're not there at 4:00, you'll have to wait a while to get in, but it's well worth the wait.”

“I love to go there, they have the best steaks there around. I think that the steaks are a little expensive but well worth it. I will go back.”

“I have been going to Charlie's' for many years and hands down these are the best steaks around. The price is a little more than you will pay at a chain but very much a value. The atmosphere is very old and definitely needs some moderation. The little manager lady was running around like a mad lady and yelling at the employees in a very unprofessional manner which was definitely detrimental to the experience. I have single handedly observed the new management run this gold mine into the ground over the years however, I still return because the steaks are so good.”

“I had read a review that said pat was a good waitress so I requested a table in her area when I called for reservations. I was very glad I did, she was great! She was attentive without being a pest and kept us up to date on the score of the game!”

“This place is amazing for steaks, I always ask for the top waitress there, if she is busy, demand to wait, she is well worth it, she will make you laugh, and to hear her talk is wonderful, you can get one of the other girls if you wish, but she is the best one there. The baked potatoes are huge, the steaks are so juicy and tender, I don't even use steak sauce, the candle lit tables make for a great dinner date or just a quite family meal with great food, even the short little woman that manages the place is fun to watch when she gets mad, she starts yelling at the staff and that is sometimes amusing, other times you do feel sorry for the staff, but the food makes it worth being there, this is why we ask for pat when visiting, she makes the other things disappear in laughter. Do ask for her if you visit.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

“Guess it depends on what you're used to spending for a steak. I don't think the place is very expensive at all by big city standards, but this is some of the best steak I've had anywhere Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Fleming's just name the other great steak places. The salad is nothing to rave about at all but I could eat the blue cheese dressing (which is a secret recipe made here and when this place was sold about 4 years ago, was a required part of the purchase agreement) by the cup full. I think the steaks must have benefit from being cooked on grates that have had literally tons of steak on them over the last half century. We live hundreds of miles from here now but I will stop any time I am in the area!”

“Nothing fancy as far as the atmosphere, but I can honestly say they have the best steak I have ever eaten. I have eaten the porter house steak there two different times and they were the best two steaks I have ever had no doubt. Good value for the money? I checked Yes but its not cheap. But I guess its like the old saying "you get what you pay for" We drive over one hour to eat at Charlie's and have never regretted it.”

“Look for the big cow on the roof! Steaks were delicious, tender and cooked to perfection, despite the very crowded room the night we were there. The ambiance is not great - one very large room with some booths and many tables. They only take two credit cards, MC and Visa, so do not count on Discover or Amex as I did, and had to dig deep to keep from washing dishes. With all its shortcomings, one goes there for the food, which is wonderful.” Popular Restraurants in Oak GroveView all restaurants in Oak Grove
