  • I could have lingered over the restaurant all night.
  • There was nothing negative.

“My husband and I first went to the Ship Lantern Inn in 1967 when we were first married. Although we eventually moved away from the mid-Hudson Valley, we still try to come back to this restaurant on a periodic basis. We were last there on Friday, August 21st for our 42nd anniversary. It was as stupendous as we remembered it. The mixed drinks were made very well. My appetizer, which was a vegetable strudel had dough, that was very flaky. Our entries were well cooked and served in a manner that is hard to find these days. We are living in Binghamton, NY, and there is no place like this around here. We will go back to the Ship Lantern Inn as often as possible. Next time we plan on bringing our grown children.”

“An amazing experience. The service and attention to detail are excellent. The staff moves as if their actions are choreographed. The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, cooked as requested, and presented with style. There is no reason not to check out this restaurant. Consider making reservations as our group almost left due to not having one. However, the owner, who saw us leave, told the hostess to let us know he will find a table for us. And we are glad he did. We will return in a few weeks.”

  • There are only positives, it is simply the best in the area.

“We travel quite a lot worldwide. Having lived in Manhattan for many years, I missed the excellent cuisine, and variety there. The Hudson Valley has some good offerings, always better than expected, and being a frequent visitor of the CIA restaurants has filled some of that void. But then, not knowing much about the other side of the river, we discovered the Ship's Lantern. All I can say now is that I have a favorite restaurant. The service is 5 star, the cuisine is 5 star. A gem that I am glad we found. Now we go there as often as we can when in town. Bravo, world class does exist in the Hudson Valley, and that is what the Ships Lantern is all about.”
