• Cheap prices.
• When Big Pappas doesn't cook the rice and beans, or the food!

“Well I have been going to El Ranchero for years, since I was in high school. The restaurant has changed a little bit and the food sometimes tastes different. My family knows that when beans and rice taste different, big pappa is not in the kitchen or the cooks somehow did not take the recipe right. I like it when big pappa does the rice and beans because he makes them very authentic. I still enjoy going there every Friday for dinner and every Saturday for the breakfast tacos.”

• Fantastic food.
• Flies and slow to get waited on.

“Best Mexican food this side of the Mississippi if you can get waited on and you don't mind flies buzzing all over you.”

• The wait staff is very friendly and if there are any problems with your order, they correct it immediately and do not charge you for the meal.
• The seating arrangement is a little cramped.

“I have been eating Antonio's for the longest. The food is fabulous and the service is great. I will continue to eat there forever and I recommend their food to everyone. Great Place to eat.”

• Awesome overall experience.
• Not so much with the English. .

“I've lived in Texas for most of my life, and by far, my favorite Mexican food restaurant is el ranchero. The food is second to none, and the service is pretty great, though you might want to bring along someone who has a basic understanding of Spanish. Yeah. They're that good. I usually down my first glass of whatever Im drinking within the first minute of sitting down, and pretty much continue on at a glass per every two minutes. My glass was never half empty without a refill waiting.”

• Best Mexican breakfast for families in greater Houston.
• None.

“Between their n. Shepherd location (Mi Sombrero) and their La Porte location (El Ranchero), the Rosales brothers have been feeding me the most wonderful breakfasts every weekend for the last 8 years. The chilaquiles and Tommy tacos are my absolute favorites. The queso flame ado is flavorful and a plenty to share as a starter. A very family-friendly atmosphere with familiar, attentive service.”
