Sideline Sports Bar

Overall Rating: 4

Atmosphere:[5]
- This place is within walking distance of the Homestead Hotel.
- On more than one occasion I felt the bartender was a bit curt.
“I have frequented the Sideline Sports Bar over the past two years merely because my "business hotel" is within walking distance of it--which is obviously convenient when having a "night cap" after a stressful workday or workweek. This bar seems to primarily cater to the twenty something crowd (with a few misplaced thirty and forty something on a rare occasion) most of the time. I must be honest and say I have never been during a significant Seattle Seahawks, Mariners or Sonics game. The beer selection is B+ and the food is, as bar-fare goes, perhaps a B+ also. Having several pool tables and a good juke box selection, it's a good place to hang out for two or three beers--preferably with a friend.”

Atmosphere:[5]
- Absolutely fantastic flavor and spice combinations, in huge portions.
- The seating area transcends "cozy" and quickly becomes "cramped".
“If you can get a table, the food makes up for the cramped seating area. Expect to spend $10-17/person, without added alcohol costs. The spices are excellently applied, the portions are very large, and the Schwarma is magnificent. Vegetarian entrees received a lukewarm response from our party, but the meat-eaters were in heaven.”

- Excellent sushi, cold beer.
- Can get very busy. Hard to find parking on weekends.
“I am spoiled. I have eaten at many sushi restaurants around the country. La, san Francisco, New York and all around the Seattle area. Tokyo's is the best if you are looking for sushi. Look at the board when you come in for what's special today. The problem of course is I am disappointed when I eat at other sushi places. Very good variety of sushi rolls. Interesting and tasty combinations.”

- Quality of food and service.
- Nothing.
“Having had dinner, not lunch, at Tokyo on average once a week for the past 2 years, I feel qualified to highly rate this restaurant. By itself, it serves high quality food, good size portions, has a very friendly wait staff and excellent service. I have never had a bad meal at Tokyo. Their combo bento box dinners are a great deal because of the variety of foods served, the portion sizes and the taste. The restaurant's atmosphere is pleasant and friendly without being too loud. It is easy to have a conversation with your dinner partner(s) and not have to shout above the noise to be heard. The service has always been prompt and efficient, but occasionally we have had to wait longer than expected for anything we have wanted in addition to our orders, and the icing on the cake is the fabulous coffee Jello in cream sauce!”

“Where do I start? Tepid soup, mushy vegetables, dried, not fried, rice, mixed up entries cooked one at time, not coming up together, server/chef(?) Dropped dishes with entrees to cooked, no dipping sauce until late in meal, eggs broken on the grill, splashed by chef and table bussers ruining a new suit, coupled with an atmosphere only to be described as chucky cheese on steroids. In all fairness, other tables seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the server/chefs seemed to be very professional and entertaining.”
