- Better than fast food its just great food!
- I have put on some pounds over the years and have to cut back on the Hot dogs!
“I am somewhat prejudice about Dudes. I carhopped there 35 years ago when it was Lyons Snappy Drive Inn. My wife of 33 years and I used to go there on dates. And still do when we drive up from Roanoke. What is amazing is the food still tastes the same. The hot dogs are the best, and the midget burgers are to die for. We also enjoy the Ham and Egg on toast with lettuce tomato and mayo with fires and a shake. The prices are still great as well as the food and service. It still gets a 10 from us.”

Texas Steakhouses & Saloons, L. L. C.

- Best food anywhere, great atmosphere too! Friendly staff!
- Maybe a bit pricey, but in line with modern steakhouses.
“This is a less typified version of the modern steakhouse. Perfect food, more than adequate portion sizes, the best prime rib anywhere (better than other Texas Steakhouses too!), delicious yeast rolls, filling and fresh salads with homemade creamy dressings, wonderful iced tea. Great appetizers and home of the original Hershey Brownie (you got to try it!). A bar is on the premises but tucked off to the side away from regular diners. Unless the place is completely full, the atmosphere is toned down, fairly quiet, giving each diner a feel of privacy. The food and atmosphere are way better than what you see at Outback. High-brow folks may be happier elsewhere. Texas doesn't carry hoity-toity weird foods. Just hearty steaks and sides, robust salads and appetizers, and tempting desserts. This place gets really busy when Virginia Tech students come out en masse on weekends or home football game days.”

- Quality food at great price.
- None.
“Inexpensive meals, all you can eat buffets, friendly service, and decent home-cooked style food. Low key type place ideal for blue collar non-yuppie folks.”

- Best mac and cheese ever! Quiet and inexpensive, all you can eat!
- Fried chicken and fried fish need some work - too soggy.
“hesitate to tell you about this place, because I don't want t crowded up! This is a quiet place frequented by the locals who know where to find it. A little off the beaten path, this is a small family type restaurant with a buffet available at every meal (serving breakfast-lunch-dinner). Prices are cheap and with the buffet it is all you care to eat. Their fried chicken is pretty sorry so is the fried fish (soggy), but they usually having some other staple like beef and gravy or spaghetti. The side dishes are filling and home cooked-style, with macaroni salad, potato salad, Cole slaw, rolls, and fruit jelly available from lunch time on. Always on offer are the small soup and salad bar, and an absolutely delicious baked macaroni and cheese. Their stewed tomatoes are great too! Customers and wait staff alike are kind and friendly. It is very low-key, casual, and inexpensive.”

Applebee's

- Quality food and decent service.
- tends to be loud
“Quality food and service that falls somewhere between the high dollar steakhouses and the cheap family places, with a more yuppie flair and a more obvious bar scene. A reasonable variety of foods to choose from, but more suited to adult appetites. The bar area in this particular Applebee's can be loud, but that is just college students. Apt to be very busy whenever Virginia Tech and Radford College are in session, especially party nights (Thurs-Sunday). Avoid days when VT has home football games. They do takeout though!”
