Mcalisters Of Poplar Plaza

SICK OF IT!
from MEMPHIS
Overall Rating: 2

Atmosphere:[1]
- I loved the spud!
- Service = employees racist!
“I was a weekly customer at McAlister's Poplar Plaza, until I noticed the "RACIEST" SERVICE from the employees. They wait on White customers first, and it is very noticeable! I would go there weekly until I continued to note the actions of the cashiers there. When I discussed this at work, I was shocked to note that they had experienced the same. Now, this place is noted has promoting the Race problem in MEMPHIS. Which just puts a bad taste for the food!”

Corky's Barbecue

Overall Rating: 9

Atmosphere:[7]
- The barbeque is absolutely scrumptious.
- The atmosphere in the restaurant is crowded but not too annoying.
“Located in East Memphis on a busy street, there is somewhat limited parking, and there is often a long line of takeout traffic in front of the restaurant. But the barbeque is well worth the inconvenience and the relatively short wait. This barbeque is so far superior to western barbeque a difference between night and day. The sauce is absolutely to-die-for.”

Rum Boogie Cafe

- Great ambience with signature guitars hanging from the ceiling.
- It is advertised as a cafe. It is definitely more than that.
“The ambience was cozy as well as historic. Coupled with the six piece rhythm and blues band, it was like stepping back into the past and reliving the blues era. Prices are most moderate and the service was excellent. Since this was our first official stop for our weekend in Memphis, it definitely set the tone for the rest of our tour. I had visited another restaurant on beale ST. Back in January, but it had served partially raw chicken wings. I wanted no more of that. I definitely made the right choice when I took my party to rum boogie cafe. The only criticism I have is this it is advertised as a cafe. Actually, it is much more than that. The small dance floor also was a treat for me and my daughter. We shall return!”
