• Smoking policy.

“I sent the following complaint to the county Health Depart On Sunday evening of August 2nd, I had dinner at the Retreat restaurant in Liverpool with some friends and family, including my 78 year old mother who has emphysema. We ate in the outside dining area. During the course of the dinner, the three tables surrounding us had people smoking. In fact, one table had two men smoking cigars. The smoke was not only annoying, but affected my mother's breathing because of her emphysema. I called the manager over to complain and point out that they are in violation of state regulations and he disagreed. He said that as long as the smokers do not occupy more than 25% of the area, its allowed. I went online this morning to recheck the regulations and he is wrong. They are required to have a designated smoking area (which they do not) at least 3 feet away from the non-smoking area and the smoking area is clearly designated by signage (which it is not). I am requesting that your office contact the Retreat requiring their compliance with state regulations on smoking.”

“The service was absolutely horrible. We were given no creamers or syrup at the table, we had to flag down the waitress four times because she refused to make eye contact with us. She brought the check out to us without asking us how everything was. The food wasn't really that great. The place is loud very loud. They should either expand or take out tables. The food was basic, nothing spectacular.”

• The food and menu are outstanding. Prices are extremely reasonable and service is always friendly and on the ball.
• Nothing.

“I love to eat and enjoy my time with friends at this restaurant! I feel the food and service is outstanding. For all those that are disappointed in the fact that there is smoking on the patio. Eat inside! That is the reason we smokers have been banished to the outdoors in the first place. Last I checked it was still legal to smoke out of doors!”

• Outdoors, food, service.
• Outdoors is rather small area.

“Food and service were wonderful and I was so happy that the outside was open since the weather was lovely the night we dined. I was happy to find a place where they allow smoking outside, it was refreshing to be able to sit down to a nice meal with friends My only gripe was that people were rude to me when I was smoking, if it is allowed I will do it and I don't believe it is right to be nasty to someone who is not bothering you.”

• The amazing textures and aromas of the fresh pizza.
• Nothing!

“I've lived in Mesa, Arizona for the last 12 years and used to live in Liverpool. I've checked out dozens and dozens of pizzerias here and all around the valley and nothing and no one comes close to Avicolli's pizza! I've been all over my town and all those around me and I still can't find pizza as good as theirs! I've had to switch to Mexican food as a favorite I don't miss the dreary gray skies of NY, but I surely miss your pizza. So, here's to Avicolli's. I guess I'll just have a glass of wine instead!”
