- Best prime rib, French onion soup and home made deserts! WOW!
- Can be a little close when large parties are dining.
“One of the best kept secrets in the Rochester-Buffalo area. The food is superb and the service is prompt, friendly and top shelve. The building is historic as a stage coach stop and harbored run-a-way slaves on the under ground railroad in the 1850s. It also served as hotel and bar for the Rochester to Wellsville canal. I travel all over the country in my aviation related employment and this has the best and I mean the bar none best, prime rib you will find anywhere. Only offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The prime rib for two at $42.00 is a great value and comes with non-alcoholic beverage and desert. The French onion soup is our favorite too. The deserts are home made and out of this world! Don't miss it if you are in the area.”

- Historic, friendly, great food and located in the beautiful Genesee Valley.
- No negatives.
“You will not find a better restaurant in Western New York. Food is great and the prices are more than reasonable. Join Art for a drink when the clock "dings" on the half hour. For an enjoyable evening, the National Hotel is the place to be. Colonial Williamsburg right here in the Genesee Valley.”

- This place is the best!
- I can not say one bad thing about the National!
“The National hotel is "a jewel of a restaurant in the quaint little settlement named Cuylerville" - this place is on the top of our list of favorite places to go. It is located very close by to Geneseo college and Letch worth state park - 2 well known destinations. Art & violet Allen oversee this fine establishment, where you are greeted by name, and if they don't know you when you arrive, they will by the time you leave. There are many local customers as well as folks who drive there from far away to visit with the Allen¿s and enjoy one of their outstanding dinners. Art mans the very quaint cozy bar and his sense of humor, welcome smile and robust laugh make you immediately feel at home. Violet is the head chef and oversees the kitchen, making sure all the dinners are top notch. All dinners are served with homemade soup and salad, the prime rib is outstanding and the lobster tails are to die for. Violet knows her stuff. All deserts are homemade by violet as well. All oversize portions and excellent. The building is very old and quaint, with 2 good size dining areas as well as seating in the bar and an additional cozy room with a large round table by a fireplace. We dine out frequently in the city and know all the best places to go and believe me, the National hotel is an all around top notch restaurant. Make sure you plan ahead to spend some time at the bar to relax and be entertained by Mr. Art before enjoying a wonderful dinner. Also because it is listed on the National registry of historic buildings/landmarks, word has it the place is haunted! Plan a trip at Halloween because the staff dresses in costume or better yet, visit in December to see the very tastefully decorated rooms and bar. In the summer the front porch has rockers to sit on to watch the traffic go by, it's a great destination any time of the year! FYI - they are closed on Mondays and Tuesday - hey, they need to rest sometime! Go - make the trip there. You will not be sorry! I highly recommend the National in Cuylerville, New York.”
