  • Great food and low price!
  • Smoking establishment. Even by the servers!

“Great food from one of North Carolina's BBQ Trail establishments! Step back in time and taste some of NC's best signature BBQ! Make sure to taste Short Sugar's BBQ Sauce, you won't regret it! Walk on in-inhale the smell of pork over burning wood; grab a seat or sit at the counter and make sure to bring your appetite! The prices are low, the food comes in heaping mounds, and the service is friendly. Place is a smoking establishment, but NC was founded on Tobacco!”

  • Food quality.

“The food is very reasonably priced, but average quality. My wife rated her burritos as good, but my combo of chalupa, enchilada, & quesadilla had the taste of a microwave frozen dinner. The warm tortilla chips and dip were good as was a straight margarita. A frozen margarita was slightly salty with no discernible tequila. The service was quick and the atmosphere was nice, but we won't hurry back.”

  • Huge portions of good food.
  • Chicken sandwich was below par.

“Chaney's is a typical country restaurant, nothing fancy, but good food and plenty of it for a very reasonable price. With the exception of large steaks. I got a huge portion of fried catfish, which was delicious. My wife was not happy with her chicken sandwich, which was a bit tough and fatty. Breakfast is served all day and my daughter loved her Belgian waffle. The biscuits were delicious. This restaurant is popular with the locals. We went for Sunday dinner around 1 pm and there was a 10-minute wait.”
