Pizza Spiga Inc

Overall Rating: 2

Atmosphere:[5]
- Fair amount of buffet choices with salad bar.
- Inconsistent policies on coupons or frequent visit cards.
“We have eaten at Pizza Spiga before, but it had been a while. Someone told me that the buffet prices had dropped so we went on a Sunday night. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. It was the staff at the checkout that I found disagreeable. When I attempted to use a recently issued coupon, I was told that I could not as they had temporarily lowered the buffet prices. No such restriction was mentioned on the coupon. A couple of years before I had encountered some difficulty using a frequent patron card. They imposed restrictions that were not printed on the card. Another customer shared a discouraging incident she witnessed while dining at Pizza Spiga. A waitress complained loudly about a group of firefighters in her area. The firefighters mentioned their dislike of her complaining that could be heard in the dining room. The man at the counter commented that the firefighters did not have to eat at Pizza Spiga. I sure that after such horrible service they never did again. In summary, the policies are inconsistent and makes a customer feel that his or her business is not wanted. We will be visiting Pizza Hut on Independence Blvd.”

- A short distance away from my house (easy drive when hungry).
- The young, perhaps inexperienced staffs working at the front counter.
“First of all, let me tell you the reason I gave all 1's for the rating. I have never tried the food, and I can't say for sure that the atmosphere was good or bad, but what I can say is that the service was so horrible that my overall rating for Pizza Spiga has to be a one. I live no more than 10 minutes from the place, and I called ahead to see what time they closed. I get there 15 minutes later, go inside, and I'm told they are closed. Very confused I ask why. The girl says because they "decided to close" (what a good reason). I told her I was the one who called 15 minutes ago, and I asked her why she didn't tell me then that they were closing 45 minutes early. She said "well, because we turned off all the cookers so we had to close." (I'm still confused). I asked if there was a manager to talk to, and the girl just shrugged and said "I don't know what else to tell you, but you have to leave because we are trying to close." Then when I walked out the front door, a man was walking towards the front door, so I told him not to bother going in because they closed early. The man said to me that he knows they're closed because he is the cook and then he asked me if I had a problem with that. He just continued giving me an evil eye until I drove away. It's strange because I had wanted to try the food at Pizza Spiga for a long time. Hope someone else has better luck than me.”

- Always fresh fish.
- Didn't have steamed crabs often enough.
“The food here was outstanding. I don't think its there anymore but the last time we ate there it was the best in Charlotte. The Papimahiel family put their hearts and souls into giving Charlotte the best and freshest seafood. Gus Parcel took this restaurant over and made it more a Carolina landmark. The best pit cooked bbq anyone has ever eaten. Sorry to see that it has become history.”
