Pub Of Penn Valley
Mar 12, 2008 by Martha from Main Line
Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Food, service, atmosphere, no smoking during dinner. For all ages!
  • Waiting times on the weekend can be very long- for good reason.

“My boyfriend and I have visited the pub multiple times since moving into the area in the summer of 2007. And by multiple, I mean a few times a month! We almost always sit at the bar because 1) there is usually a wait for the tables and 2) the bartenders are great! They are so friendly and will have a conversation with you like you're old friends. The menu is fantastic, a little on the expensive side if you stick to pastas (but they're so worth it). The sandwiches are not my favorite, but the turkey burger is great! Their pub wings are awesome too. My favorite meal there is the chicken with spinach and prosciutto in a gouda cream sauce. It's to die for! Eating outside during the summer is wonderful too. And even though they're outside the city, they still limit the times you can smoke in there, so that's a plus in my eyes. We have taken several friends here and they all loved it. Highly recommended!”

Pub Of Penn Valley
Sep 2, 2007 by Matt from Penn Valley
Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2
Food:[4] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • The menu is varied.
  • They just want to get you in and out as fast as possible.

“This summer I became a home owner in Penn valley. A friend of mine recommended your restaurant. I have eaten there over 10 times since moving here in July for both business and pleasure. I was very satisfied with the food and service until last night. I was meeting my girlfriend and our realtor for dinner. She left work early due to the holiday weekend and arrived at your establishment earlier than we planned. She explained the situation to the person that was seating her. They sat her at a table with settings for three. Someone asked her how many were in her party and she told him. He was reluctant that the whole party wasn't there, but sat her anyway. A couple of minutes went by and I still hadn't arrived yet. Before I arrived, one of the waitresses inquired about when the other members of the party were arriving in a manner that suggested she was annoyed by her presence. I then arrived a few moments later and then we were both approached by one of the employees who told us that we never should have been seated if our entire party wasn't present- but he would be nice and let us stay seated. A few more minutes went by and then a woman who we assumed to be the manager then approached us extremely rudely and told us that the third member of our party needs to show up because it's not fair that other people who were there were waiting for a table. Thus between my girlfriend and I, we were approached three times by employee steeling us that we should never have been seated, all the while trying to make us feel guilty. I understand your policy is not to seat someone without the rest of the party, and I agree that this is a sound policy; however, if one of your employees makes the mistake of seating someone, then the seated person should not be harassed. We felt extremely awkward and unwanted and were unable to enjoy our food. Due to last night's occurrence, we have decided not to return to the establishment. We were paying customers who were treated like we had no right to be there. I will also advise the various people who I have brought there of the poor service.”

  • Food, service, atmosphere, location.

“This restaurant is fantastic! Don't let the word "pub" pre-determine its menu for you! Wonderful choices, excellently prepared with great service. Friendly faces, great bar (and bartenders), comfortable seating, really delicious food and dessert. This place can't be beat, and to have it within walking distance is a bonus. I'd drive a distance to eat here!”
