• Fresh baked bread and pies.
• This is not a romantic place to impress a first date.

“Located on Route 40, the National Pike, roughly 15 miles south of Union town, Glisan's is a well established family owned restaurant. It has been the same for at least 45 years that I know. It is not a fancy place. The majority of their customers are locals, truckers, or people driving through the mountains of western PA. I would call this an old fashioned country restaurant. Glisan's bakes fresh bread, daily! The bread is served with real butter. The quality of the bread isn't just good, it's fabulous. They also bake a huge variety of pies daily. However, you may not get to the pies because the portions they serve are huge. I had fried chicken. My kids had burgers. My wife had the meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes special. We were so full, we had to take pies home to eat later. The service was friendly & efficient, & the food was prepared quickly. Various members of the Glisan family were present working. The prices were so reasonable. To be fair, Glisan's isn't a date place, nor is it the place for serious dieters. However, a vegetarian could go to town on the bread & pies alone! Call me old school, but there are fewer and fewer of these types of places left in the US, & I'm tired of the sterile corporate ones. Glisan's a treasure. If I'm within 50 miles of Glisan's, I'll go out of my way to eat there and take a pie or 2 home.”
