- The lobby.
- Everything else.
“It has a nice appearance from the lobby. It was full when we arrived and a few folks in front of us but there was certainly no wait to get in. Once you are handed your menus then seated, there is no wait to order or eat. Our miniature steaks were ready as we returned from the salad bar. I had a nondescript Cabernet that probably was a Merlot, but it was red.”

- Sweet tea.
- It would have been better if they served what I had ordered.
“For a fully staffed restaurant, I don't think that it can get much worse. The waitress brought me my order, but it was only half correct. My drink refill was incorrect as well. This is my worst dining experience. It took over an hour from start to finish, and I had to request my check.”

- A well keep secret gem in Kinston. But trust me, Im telling all my friends.
- Too far from New Bern, NC.
“The prime rib is to die for and the salad bar is so fresh you almost think you are in the garden. And between that and the soup bar, you can satisfy any taste you have. The steak will nearly melt in your mouth and the (au jus) puts the finishing touch to it. Please don't insult it with A-1 or anything else. From entry to exit, the whole dining experience is beyond comprehension.”

Chaps Restaurant Inc

- Food flavor, prep, quantity, variety all really great.
- Out of Town a Bit South of Kinston.
“I was very sad to hear that chaps had closed. I believe that it grew too fast. I used to love taking people there when I worked in Kinston as it was clearly the best barbeque place that I had ever been too. It was started by a preacher who always heard that he should open a restaurant when ever he served his pork and chicken barbeque. His marinate and sauces were out of this world and he cooked everything on open pit grills with mequite charcoal. The chicken and barbeque platter was so good. My wife would get me to drive down there about once a week and pickup several takeouts for the family dinner. Sad that this place is gone I was a little concerned over the years as I saw the preacher build more and more serving, cooking, parking, and takeout areas. The quality and quantity of the food was always great though. I guess that the pace of growth was too much. I will miss you chaps I was heading down to Kinston this week looking forward to eating there. .”
