- Leaving.
- Everything Else.
“We stayed at The Country Cottage in September 2007. The Country Cottage is a small inn with an attached restaurant in Hayesville, NC. We decided to stay at the inn to have a mountain experience, and were we sorry we stayed there. My first clue was upon arrival - the owners could not have been ruder. My room request was not honored, and any request we made thereafter, was met with utter distain. The facilities could not have been nastier and the water tasted contaminated and had an unpleasant odor. A big disappointment! I understand that this facility passes to many different managers, and as a last resort the owners will manage: but be warned no matter who is managing - it is not worth the money!”

- Great waitresses.
- Poor management. Lack of structure.
“Restaurant has obviously changed hands very recently. It used to be the best place to go, but recently I hear they have a new manager and I am not sure who or what he or she is but it is not good. The morale doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. The waitresses are really nice but it seems like the hierarchy is not doing their job. It used to be enjoyable but things have changed. Hopefully they will change back. I miss the way it was. The food is good but that is not enough.”

- Friendly, caring service; good food
- 30-minute wait for food; we were warned because of shift from breakfast to lunch service.
“My parents and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday. We arrived at 11:30 AM and were told that lunch wouldn't be ready to be served for approximately 20 minutes, as they were shifting from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu. The waitress was very cordial, taking our drink orders and making us feel at home as we waited. The wait was closer to 30 minutes, but the food was worth it. The pulled pork (from a roast Boston butt, no doubt) with gravy was succulent and tasty. Side dishes of col slaw and baked apples with raisins were delicious; creamed corn (seemingly canned) and fried okra (likely frozen) were o.k. The "shrimp lousy salad" was delectable -- plenty of small boiled shrimp on a bed of lettuce and chopped tomatoes complimented by a zesty house dressing. The portions were plentiful. Though we didn't have room for dessert, there were tempting fruit and custard pies on display. The "country cottage" atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this establishment. ”
