• Good food.
• Waited too long for drink refill.

“Try the fried shrimp. It's positively fresh and sweet. The scallops are great too. Service is OK. People are friendly.”

• Overcooked food and poor service.

“The food was severely overcooked and the breading was hard/crunchy. My fish was actually dried out. The ranch dressing for our salads was watery. The hush puppies were good though. My family didn't want to take our leftovers with us. The service left much to be desired. I waited 15 minutes for a drink refill. The atmosphere reminds me more of a dining hall than a restaurant. I would never return. There are other finer eating establishments in the area.”

• We had to wait in line for 35 minutes.

“Great family restaurant. We were told that the original family recently got it back after switching hands several times. It was fantastic!!”

• The food is horrible.

“Don't eat the seafood platters! Everything is overcooked, and they have never heard of seasoning. The shrimp were popcorn size and very watery like they just came out of a can. The flounder was dry and still had bones in it. The scallops had no flavor what so ever and were very mushy. The oysters were gritty and had the texture of a pencil eraser. I do not recommend any seafood here for human consumption, but it does make good fishing bait.”

“I am grateful to be able to offer an outstanding review about The Hut. I play golf in the area for four days each May with friends and we always make The Hut a part of our dinner plans. In an area where the seafood portions should be large and the prices low, you don't often find a place like The Hut where the exact opposites are true. The only "negative" is the wait time and this is not an every-time occurrence, but hey if it isn't great food, no one's waiting! I will always make The Hut a part of my dinner plans whenever in the area. Simply and easily blows away all the competition on "restaurant row" in Calabash, NC.”
