  • The wonderful breakfast, and the warm mountain welcome.
  • I can't eat barbecue, but our friend loves it.

“My husband, me and another couple, travel to the Banner Elk area, from once to twice, every year. We ate breakfast at Pappy's every morning. We all love the breakfast, as well as the Huge hot biscuits. We were saddened, the months and years, we went there, and Pappy's was closed for renovation. It took away from our whole trip. We are traveling there, in October 2009, for the Woolly-Worm Festival, and we are so thrilled that Pappy's has reopened! See you in October!”

  • They are very friendly.
  • Nothing but we are use to the place, locals and all.

“Great place to eat. They have added a Vietnams menu to die forgive it a try they have home made soymilk sounds bad but is great and this odd dessert sticky rice its much more than just that rice, carrots and shrimp sauce thing they still have that but the new menu is great. Tell them.”

  • Friendly service and good food.
  • I could have done without the waitress with her head on the table like she was sick or something. Not cool.

  • The burgers and fries are great!
  • Interior decorating feels a bit dingy.

“The best burgers in town. Delicious, cooked to order hamburgers and a variety of other sandwich, soup and salad selections. I like the Salmon sandwich, and of course, the all time favorite is the hamburger. The bar-like atmosphere is slightly overwhelming though it is separate from the dining area by the ordering counter, and the restaurant is in need of an interior make over, but for great sandwiches, fries, salads and soups, Nick's can't be beat in Banner Elk. A good place for a casual meal with delicious food.”

  • Service was adequate, and the salad bar was extensive and appetizing.
  • Our steaks were tough. The atmosphere was anything but romantic.

“One of the toughest steaks I've ever had, and the atmosphere is similar to a Bob Evans Restaurant. I'll never dine there again.”
