“This was our first visit, for a birthday dinner with my father. One reason we had chosen this place over other steak houses was because after reviewing the menu the night before I made sure the price of the steaks included salad and baked potato. When we get to the restaurant the menu was different and the server tells us the menu has changed and now the steaks don't come with anything. Mind you, they range from $22.50-28.50, for just a steak. I don't know who invented this "new" way of selling steaks, and why it's just steaks that it applies to, I mean why not charge me for just my chicken breast and let me add mashed potatoes on for $4. Your salad will cost you another $6 by the way. So after I insisted the server ask the manager and point out the menu online, she comes back and says they will do it. Anyhow, I ordered my steak medium and it was served on the very rare side of that, with the middle completely rare. My husband had the overpriced scallops, which were like rubber, way overcooked. The server apparently doesn't fill your beverage, a "water/tea boy does" and that being what seemed like his only job, well he sucked at it. Our drinks were empty several times throughout dinner. If it had not been for this certificate we were using requiring an 18% gratuity, I wouldn't have barely given 15%. Finally, I still can figure out what the appeal is of this place and why it is so expensive. The food is barely average, the building is nothing special, only four tables have a view outside, and that is just of the courthouse and square area. Being a small town, it's nothing spectacular. I honestly think it's for the uppity people in the area, who are willing to sacrifice service and food just to eat somewhere that is expensive. I think they should concentrate more on preparing quality food and not just assume because they are one of the only high end restaurants in Hernando, if not the only one, that people will want to eat there. Southaven and Memphis are not that far of a drive, a drive I would recommend you taking for better food.”
