- Charming North-woods atmosphere with an amazing Sunday brunch.
“Regular menu items highlight the Scandinavian heritage of the area well and locally caught fish including lake herring were even available in summer. The Sunday brunch was very reasonable, always fresh - even in the off season and has an amazing amount of variety.”

- NA.
- Everything else. Not clean, amenities listed are not truthful, building is not taken care of.
“This is the single worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. The food is overpriced and terrible. The restaurant is rundown, tacky, and unsanitary. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in October 2008 while on the beautiful north shore for vacation. We ordered specialty sandwiches off the menu in the signature sandwiches section assuming that something off the signature section of the menu would be a house specialty. The best part of the experience was the 50 minute wait for our food. Once it arrived we found a small amount of questionable meat on a stale, cold, and soggy roll. The sauces and complements were terrible. The salad was wilted spring greens accompanied by a mushy unwashed strawberry with a mango salsa stuff on top. Who puts maraschino cherries in a mango salsa and serves it on spring greens? Everything was simply awful. The waitress didn't come back to our table after dropping the food off- presumably she new we would be unhappy with what she served us.”

- Food is fresh, plentiful and outstanding. Nice atmosphere with the mounts etc.
- Sometimes can get very crowded. Service is a little slow.
“I visit this restaurant whenever I am in the vicinity. Usually around 6-8 times a year. They always have an outstanding smelt fry in the spring and on Fridays an all-you-can-eat walleye fry. Sundays is an awesome brunch with some authentic Scandinavian fare. The regular menu is just outstanding. I highly recommend the smoke caribou sandwich in particular. It is one of my favorites. The chef usually accompanies his dishes with a mango salsa that's just awesome. Goes really well with the wild game dishes. The lunches are a little pricey but when you consider that all this is homemade plus all the wild game on the menu, its really quite a bargain. And if your into a lighter lunch they have a really good salad/soup bar. One thing I have to mention is their homemade pies as well. Of particular note is their Fruit of the Forest pie. It is simply outstanding. My favorite restaurant on the North shore bar none.”

- One of the best ever locally owned North Shore dining places.
- Sometimes a little understaffed, but who's in a hurry at this place?`
“I visit the North Shore the last week in December and in early September every year. A short drive from the cabin to Beaver Bay is always a must to partake of the very good and extensive menu offerings of Northern Lights Roadhouse and Pub. Don't be put off by the exterior. The interior is what makes the place. Just off to the right is an intimate and cleverly decorated pub area, cozy enough to visit with strangers or friends. A walk through the various sections is more than fun. Great North Shore photos, modern rustic tables and chairs and an atmosphere that makes one feel like spending some real time. Have never had a menu item that wasn't exceptional. ”
