- Service.
- Flavor is a thing they have yet to discover.
“Classic diner. Without the character! Right wing Christian music topped with some of the most boring food I've ever had the discomfort to lay eyes upon. Breakfast is. OK, the service is good the meal is a drag and the price is outrageous! If you enjoy truck stop food. Well, you may enjoy it!”

- Best experience of any restaurant/cafe I've ever eaten at.
- Nothing.
“The Blue Water Cafe was one of the best cafe's I've ever had the pleasure of being at little bit of time. A group of eight of us, ready to go to camping in the boundary waters, arrived in Grand Marais at about 6:00 AM. Of course the cafe was already open and was already roaring. There were about 10 other customers in the cafe when we entered. We had a few great conversations with the very kind people. They were all locals of the area that go to the cafe almost every day. Then we had a conversation with the very kind waitress. Everyone at the cafe was very warm and fun. Then I ordered a coffee that was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. After reviewing the menu, I knew it was going to be a tough decision because the menu was filled with very hearty and tasty food. I don't remember what I exactly ordered, but I remember it was spectacular. Of course the service was very fast and everything in the cafe was great. We left the cafe full which was exactly what we needed because we knew we weren't going to be able to eat before we got to our campsite which was about six hours away in the middle of the boundary waters. After the camping trip was over, we returned through Grand Marais and we knew there was only one place we could eat. Again, the service was spectacular. This time at the cafe, I got a big prime rib if I remember correctly. It was quite possibly the best food I had ever tasted. But that could've also been due to the lack of good food while camping for five days. Either way, everyone enjoyed all of their food once again. I look forward to eating at the Blue Water Cafe again next year when I go camping in the boundary waters. I completely recommend this restaurant to everyone.”

- The prime rib special and Ted and Rodger!
- None, except that we live too far away to eat there every week.
“My husband and I discovered the Trail Center on our honeymoon 12 years ago - and we have continued to go up every year since. You will find the BEST food at great prices and the staff is so friendly and funny!! You have to try the Prime Rib special on Wednesdays and the rib and fish specials are also a must have!! Every meal we've had has been excellent. Make sure to say hi to Ted and Rodger when you visit!! Seriously go to the Trail Center if you're anywhere near Grand Marris the nature, food and people are so worth the drive!! ”
