• Atmosphere still nice.
• Wait staff was not attentive.

“This restaurant has changed! It used to be one of our favorite places to eat for the last 20+ years. We recently dined there and the food was extremely disappointing. Roast beef and NY strip lacked flavor and seasoning. The Veal Oscar had one very small, thin piece of veal. Waiter did not check back on us during the meal. We had to ask twice for ice tea, preserves for popovers, change of vegetables on dish, and no one refilled the water glasses. Waiter was pleasant but was not attentive.”

“The Old Angler's Inn in Potomac is beautifully located in a Washington DC suburb not far from the Great Falls in Maryland. It has a rather spacey outdoor patio shaded by old trees. This is about the only reason I would give it one point. I had decided to take my co-workers out for lunch for a job well done and made reservations for 12:30 P.M. for a table of six. When we arrived at 12:35 P.M. they had not even prepared the table, we had to wait for about 10 minutes. After sitting down it took about 20 minutes for us to get acknowledged by the wait staff and to even get menus. Another 30 minutes went by for anybody to take our order, and only because we asked several times for some attention. At about 1:45 p.m. we finally were served our salads only to find a live crawling insect in one of them. The wait staff shrugged the incident off and brought out another salad 10 minutes later. Needless to say everybody had lost their appetite by then. The manager/owner, who was present and had actually placed us at our table, didn't find it necessary to come over to our table to at least apologize. If there had been another restaurant close by, we would have left much earlier.”

• Would be nice for Sunday afternoon tea -- nice fireplaces.
• Food overpriced and low quality.

“Celebrated valentine's day. The food was below average for above average prices. French onion: while the cheese on top was melted, we assumed it was done by blow torch since the soup was lukewarm. The veal is something done just as well at hop. The martinis were lackluster and could be called 'baby martinis'. ”

• Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
• None experienced in the 5+ times I have visited.

“Excellent restaurant - personally the best crab cakes I have ever tasted! I keep going specifically for that reason. The location is good, not too far off of 495, and there is always something on the menu that will strike your fancy. Overall a place definitely worth coming back to! ”
