• Food, atmosphere and staff.
• No negatives.

“Of all the hole-in-the-wall restaurants I've visited, the Whitehouse is by far my favorite. It's so small that you cross your fingers hoping a free table is there when you walk in the door. Staff is friendly, food is delicious and meals are large. Another positive is that smoking is allowed.”

• Great food with great view of the street and cozy.
• Sometimes a bit smoky.

“I just love going to Clare to enjoy the little old fashion diner on main street. You should not pass up this place. It's great for a historic old small town.”

• Food was good, but not great.

“The historic hotel creates a nice atmosphere for being up North. The four-seasons murals on the walls of the restaurant add to the atmosphere, as do the big windows overlooking Clare's main street with a view of the marquee-style old movie house. The chef provides an assortment of dishes to choose from and the salad bar is above average with fresh breads and cheeses. I recently bought a cottage nearby and have eaten here several times. Each time has been good and I'm not sure where in this area you would get any finer dining. There is linen on the tables and the wait staff dresses in black and white, yet one can wear casual clothes. The prices are lower than a comparable dining experience in the cities. I'm thankful for providing this type of dining experience. I'm going there for New year's Eve dinner.”

• Not much.
• Called to find out why so many people got sick in December of 2006. Very cold reception and no offers to make things right.

“Got the Nora virus during a Christmas party. Hotel staff did not even offer a free dinner apologies. They have the hotel management trained pretty good not to give "any" goodwill back to clients. Will I eat there again? You can be my guest.”
