• Excellent ambiance; a real feel of the old south.
• No negative.

“We were taken to lunch here on an incredibly beautiful, sunny day. We sat on the upstairs porch, overlooking the lake (bring sunglasses!). The extensive menu was mouth-watering; so many ways to enjoy the fruits of the sea. Making a selection was difficult. I wanted it all, but settled on the soft shell crabs - my weakness! My husband thought the side salad was so pretty he had me take a photo of it! The walls inside are hung with wonderful boat photos and paintings.”

• Bread & oil. The food was ok but the bread & oil is to die for!
• Actual food. I make better spaghetti at home!

“I liked the service and the bread & oil, and the atmosphere was just gorgeous, but the food wasn't all that great. I can't believe I chose this place over apple bees.”

• Food, atmosphere, friendly folks.
• Very long wait at times, but that's just the way it is. It's worth it.

“Rips is fantastic. Make sure you call before you go and check the wait time. On a weekend night, you could be waiting for quite sometime. However, there is an outside bar downstairs and your right on the Mandeville Lakefront with a great view. Food is fantastic and a great value. For an extra-special experience, go in the Spring or Fall when it's comfortable to sit outside on the front porch which overlooks Lake Pontchartrain. Also, the stuffed crabs are pretty inexpensive and delicious. These come with the seafood platter, which is much more than your average seafood platter.”
