• Generous portions. Like getting fed by your grandmother!
• The neighborhood seems to be taking a turn for the worse.

“John's is a great place to eat and have a relaxing dinner with friends. The pasta dishes are outstanding and the pizza is definitely one of the top 10 in Rockford. You can also save a few dollars using a Super Pass discount, which is just an added bonus to visiting one of SE Rockford's best restaurants.”

• Nothing.
• The treatment of African Americans, they only like your money but you should not be permitted!

“I recently went to shooters bar n grill and I would like to say if you are a black person choose another venue to attend, I was there this past weekend and an argument ensued with two other people and I was blamed because I am African American and happened to be standing near the incident, I was asked to step outside then not permitted back inside the club and I was guilty of just being black, so to all who read this if you are black find somewhere else to spend your money, also if you wear jewelry like a crucifix, you are a suspected gang banger my advice just don't go there!!!”

• Have all the food I crave and all the spirits I love!
• Rather busy. I have to come early to get my favorite table.

“My work has me doing a lot of traveling to the Midwest, so when I have to go to Rockford, ill #1) I stay at the Hilton and #2) I always go to garret¿s restaurant. Garrett's provides such a casual atmosphere, but provides food that's anything but. I love the fact that I can get some work done outside my hotel room at meet up with potential business clients for a cocktail after the day's work. So, nevertheless, I feel obligated to go there and support a great restaurant that has given me some sense of belonging in the Rockford area and created such great memories as well. ”

• Great music selection in the bar!
• Not open on Sundays.

“What a great place to go with the wife or hang out with your buddies in the bar after work! I recently moved back to Rockford and hadn't been to Garrett's since 2001. How things have changed (for the better). The restaurant is huge now. It was somewhat busy when I used to go there before I moved; now you have to make a reservation on a weeknight to get it there. Even though it¿s super busy I love what they've done with the place. The staff has always been friendly and the management is extremely accommodating (My wife's a little high-maintenance sometimes). If you go, have the lobster Mac and cheese, it's my all time favorite.”

• Always busy, better make a reservation!

“This place is awesome! If your in the mood for a sandwich or feel like lobster this place is for you. They have put together one of the best wait staff teams in Rockford and the chef is a genius with the menu choices. From the moment you walk in the front door and are greeted by the most attractive hostesses on the planet you know it will be great experience. If your a golfer you can hit golf balls on their driving range which is heated in the winter and fully lit for night golf. I will continue to go back every time I am in Rockford.”
