- Friendly staff, chicken salad tasted good.
- Very slow service, overpriced food.
“This restaurant is now called "The Jem". I am a very patient person, but it took them literally thirty minutes just to make my half sandwich of chicken salad. The food is also pricey - I paid almost seven dollars just for my half sandwich. I said not for family-friendly because while the staff was accommodating to babies (they do have high-chairs), I felt awkward there with a child because all the sounds echo off the walls and floors (no sound buffers), and the customers were primarily older, very sophisticated adults (some in meetings). It just didn't seem like a place you'd want to take children very often.”

- Delicious, original menu.
- A bit pricey for the area.
“The chew cafe is a darling restaurant, centrally located on the tracks (no coincidence in the Name), with quality, delicious food and an extensive wine selection. They have daily specials which are scrumptious and the service is always good. The owner cares for the menu and the patrons in depth and offers a wonderful and ever-changing array of menu choices. The mussels are to die for! The main entree prices tend to be a bit high for the area, however, there is no competition nearby, and so I guess he's able to pull it off! A must dining experience in a quaint little town.”

- Food, atmosphere, martinis.
- Trains are loud on the patio.
“I said no to family-friendly although many people bring their kids. The reason I said this is because it's a small place and the kids are usually bored and then become rowdy. I love the chew cafe. It sits against the bnsf line, but you won't hear the trains unless you sit on the patio. They have daily specials including 1/2 price martinis on Thursdays! Mardi grass week is the best. Belly dancers, fortune tellers, fun! During a normal week, you can expect candles on the tables, good food, and a romantic atmosphere.”

- The place is unpretentious but charming.
- Cannot think of a thing.
“The Blue Parrot is a great place to gather with friends for lunch (or breakfast). The sandwiches are wonderful; an imaginative menu, and the prices are reasonable. The place has an old coffee house feel, a little run down but comfortable and a bit eclectic with funky pictures on the walls, old books to pick up and read and some outsider art placed around the room. The owner, Joyce Montello, is friendly and concerned about her customers. She also does a wonderful job of catering, designing menus of all sorts, including her wonderful sandwiches.”

- Quick service and delicious food.
- Jello melts in warm dessert plates just out of dishwasher.
“One of the better Czech restaurants in the Western Suburbs. Their Pork, Dumplings and Sauerkraut is absolutely delicious. So too is the breaded veal cutlet. You can't go wrong here. They're busy from mid-afternoon for the early bird crowd and well into evening for the after work folks. ”
