- Atmosphere; martinis; service.
- Pricey.
“I love this place. I went with a girlfriend, but longed to have our men with us. We started with relaxing martinis. We enjoyed a great selection of unique breads and then per our waitress suggestion, shared a bowl of soup. It was out of this world! And she was right on sharing the portion. We then had fantastic entrees, a little pricey, but the overall experience was well worth it. I would definitely recommend it and hope to go back with my man.”

- Real Italian-family restaurant with superb pizza. Friendly congenial family atmosphere.
- Can be quite crowded and sometimes noisy early Saturday and Friday nights.
“A real Italian restaurant runs for well over 30 years by two generations of a real hard-working Italian family. Felipe, the patriarch, is often found in the working kitchen, proudly displayed and open to the seating area. Pizza is excellent; with wonderful top qualify cheeses and other toppings, marvelous red sauce. Taste demonstrates fresh ingredients are important to the owners. Thin style crust only. Other food choices are not as good as the pizza, ranging from good to fair. Prices are very reasonable. Service is prompt. Another part of the family runs a similar restaurant in nearby Mahomet Illinois. Atmosphere is definitely small-town friendly and family-style restaurant, with local people - often the owners themselves - providing service as well as cooking. Extremely popular with local people, especially on Friday and Saturday nights until 8:30 or 9:00, when there is often a line to be seated. Avoiding the busiest times in the fairly small dining area yields a quite satisfactory small-town dining experience. Rather limited choice of wine and bottled beer. Very limited salad bar. Family friendly congenial atmosphere.”

Montgomery's On The Square

- Micro-green palate cleanser, salt selection, redecorated.
- Ridiculously long wait for food and drinks to arrive, over-priced, mediocre food.
“Montgomery's used to be one of our favorite area restaurants until it was taken over by the new owners. On the positive side, they have redecorated. They also incorporate a few nice touches to the meal including a palate-cleanser of micro greens, a blueberry, a shaving of Asia go dressed in citrus vinaigrette. And a selection of salts (black, beige, grey, red, etc) that's delivered with your entree. Other than that, we had an awful experience. We ordered cocktails and waited 15 minutes for them. They both arrived with melted ice, twice. We ordered the parmesan crusted artichoke heart appetizer - 6 canned artichoke heart halves crusted on top with a parmesan mixture, served with a sour cream or crème fraise dipping sauce that took 45 minutes to arrive. Mediocre at best, I expected fresh from Montgomery¿s. My Caesar salad was fine, but my husband's $6 field green salad was 4 bites of masculine and too-tart raspberry vinaigrette. He ordered the tilapia special - $28 - that consisted of a large pile of huge dark red beans, a tiny tilapia filet that was over-cooked, topped with tasteless squash. Simply awful, and ridiculously over-priced for 3 ounces of fish, tops. My blue cheese crusted filet with potato gratin and asparagus was very good. Our table was right by the kitchen door under an "interrogation" bulb. Our waitress dimmed it after several requests, but said it would dim the lights in back too. Overall, our wait after ordering both drinks and dinner was unacceptable, and the food was mediocre and over-priced. I don't know if the place is understaffed (the restaurant was bout 2/3 full) or if they've taken on too much with their alteration park venture, but we won't be going back to Montgomery¿s. If you're a goodie, drive a little farther to baccarat in Champaign.”
