- Helpful wait staff.
- Food very disappointing.
“The Glass Chimney has come under new ownership sometime in the last year. Prior to that I believe it was excellent (it was my grandparents' favorite restaurant, they celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there for years.) In March of '09 (one month ago) my family and I ate there and were sorely disappointed. The food is nothing special considering how expensive it is. My steak was far worse than many less-expensive steaks I've eaten (it was ridiculously hard to chew and the flavor was not particularly tasty either). My husband, mother, and aunt and brother each commented on how they were disappointed by their food as well, considering how expensive everything was (we each ordered different menu items).”

“It has been a long time since I had food so fresh and served by great servers. The food was plentiful and delicious. The owner was personable and a great chef. Great place to stop while traveling through Indianapolis for a fine meal and great service.”

- Food was good, when it finally arrived.
- Slow service. Over rated compared to downtown establishments.
“Ok I have read and heard so much about the "glass chimney" and so finally took the family there on a Friday night. Bottom line: very doubtful that I will ever return. Pros: food was good, not the best in Indy but very good. The shrimp cocktail was great as were the desserts. Cons: the service was very slow, it took a while for us to get a menu, drinks, bread, etc. The place wasn't even crowded. This detracted from the fine food in my opinion. Another con is the dining room is dimly lit and very quiet with the requisite classical music in the background. Maybe that is "atmosphere" for some people but it was a little too dead pan for me. Clientele seems to favor an older (as in +50) crowd. Next time will hit Ruth Chris, St. Elmo's and other downtown restaurants that offer more upbeat atmosphere, great food and faster service. Would not recommend this place to others.”

- Simply delicious gourmet food.
- Costly.
“Superbly prepared and nicely plated dishes. It is expensive by Indy standards, but worth it for the quality experience. Next door is sister restaurant deters, which serves a limited menu from the same kitchen at a little lower cost. Great place for a special occasion.”
