- Waitress was nice.
- Terrible, overpriced food. Orders were wrong. Unsanitary!
“We ate here today, 12.06.08, after the Christmas parade. We had taken a carriage ride and the restaurant was recommended by the driver. Also, living only about 50 miles away, I have heard about the restaurant for years from many different people. Those people must be interested only in the bar because there is nothing good to say. We were seated right away and our orders were taken immediately but we waited over 35 minutes for our food to arrive and when it did, all kinds of things were wrong. My mother's steak was way underdone and she had specified how she wanted it. One of the drinks was wrong and everyone's side dishes were completely wrong. We didn't receive much of an apology for this, either. My mother had already taken a bite of her steak to see if she could eat is as-is but they took the steak back into the kitchen and put it back on the grill, totally unsanitary! I have worked in a restaurant for a long time and food that had been touched by customers was never, ever taken back into the kitchen. My husband and I ordered the shrimp and scallop combo at $20 per person. Imagine my dismay when the waitress brought our plates containing 3 shrimp and 6 scallops. For 20 bucks! If that wasn't bad enough, neither the shrimp nor the scallops had any flavor at all. The kids meals were 10 bucks each but their popcorn shrimp and chicken bites were actually pretty good. Nothing else was, though. A child's drink cost $2.50. Also, if you order a baked potato and you want butter and sour cream, expect to pay extra for those too. I couldn't believe that! For 3 adults and 2 kids the bill was $120 and the already added tip was $18. That much for crappy food and bad service. Stay away from Pauls!”

- The murals on the walls are nice. One nice server.
- Everything else.
“First and foremost, I must say that I am a lover of food and love to find interesting restaurants around my home town. On the outside, the Alt Heidelberg in Helen, GA looked very interesting and enticing. Upon entering I could not have been more disappointed. First, the restaurant was not very visually appealing on the inside. Every table had a plastic table cloth with Italian pasta printed on it. Second, only one server was dressed in authentic German attire (even the owner was wearing a Hawaiian shirt). Third, the food was ridiculously priced. I paid $40 for two frozen hamburgers and one German Sausage. Fourth, only my father was offered a refill the entire time. Fifth, even though the restaurant was not very busy, we waited over twenty minutes to get our check and get out. Overall, this restaurant is nothing more than a bar and a tourist trap.”

- Food was great.
- Kind of noisy.
“My daughter and I went to Paul's during the Oktoberfest last year 2007. We had all you can eat crab legs. Oh my gosh I can not tell you how great they were. We are great lovers of crab legs and have never tasted anything so good at home. The waitress were friendly. They were very busy, but seemed to handle it very well. We are going again this year and can't wait to eat at Paul's again. I hope we aren't disappointed.”

- Live music.
- Service was terrible.
“If you are looking for a good meal, don't waist your money. If you are looking for good service, don't waist your time. This place is over priced and over rated. You can hear a live band, but that is the only positive aspect to this place.”

- Not much.
- 50% of the steak was fat and gristle.
“My wife and I love a good prime rib, so grilled prime rib was intriguing, in spite of the $22.95 per person price, the grilled look and taste was not enough to over come the fact that approximately 50% of the steak was inedible. By that I mean it was fat, and gristle. The waitress did keep our drinks filled, however took no notice of that portion of the steak that was culled. We will not go back to Paul's, but will definitely try the other steakhouse in Helen.”
