“Shogun in Columbus is by far the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten in. The house salad is served with so much salad dressing that is looks more like a soup. The Miso soup is salty. Do not order the salmon skin roll and check any of your menu items with avocado as half of my California roll was made with bruised, mushy avocado.”

“Don't bother. Atmosphere was loud. Cleanliness of table suspect. Waitress looked unkempt - if personal appearance is neglected I suspect the approach to cleanliness is the same. Meals were delayed with no explanation or apology. The food was less than mediocre. The menu was rubber-stamped of many chains with no particular personality or specialty. Nachos appeared looking like they had been prepared so far in advance that the cheese had progressed from melted to coagulated and rubbery. My grilled shrimp were OK but looked like they had been slapped on the plate in an assembly line with the other two items. Better to go to a chain where you know what to expect and what not to hope for. No redeeming qualities.”

- I thought the place had a nice atmosphere.
- Typical southern restaurant, typical southern service.
“The Experience. When my wife and I first walked in we found the atmosphere nice and the servers cordial. It was later in the evening, so the place wasn't too busy. Once I sat down, it took quite a while to get served. Ordered a medium rare pepper sirloin and a medium rib eye. The rib eye came out still cold and red in the center (rare) and the sirloin was very overdone. The sirloin had so much black pepper on it I couldn't taste the meat (not typically the goal in cooking a steak) and my wife couldn't eat the rib eye because it was so rare. Waitress never made the courtesy "is everything ok" check, so we choked down as much as we could. By this time both our drinks were empty and we sat with out half-eaten meals until our server re-discovered our existence. She took the plates, did not offer more drinks, but asked us if we wanted desert. Since we were still pretty hungry, we ordered the apple pie. They were out of apple pie, so we ordered chocolate cake. Chocolate cake came out, and it was so stale that we could barely cut through it with a fork. I flagged down the server and asked her if this was the intended texture of the cake (just to see what she would say) while I tapped it with a fork producing a loud clicking sound. She had to go check. When she returned, she explained (to my amazement) that the cake was this hard because it was cold, and it was perfectly normal. I showed her that the cake was room temperature to the touch, and that the cake actually "shattered" when cut. I told her that since we hadn't eaten any of the cake, she could just take it back to the kitchen and take it off our bill. She didn't seem willing to do this at first, and it took some coaxing to convince her that I wasn't going to pay for it. My thoughts. You normally expect that higher price will get you a better dining experience and better food. This place illustrates how flawed logic is plentiful in the world. If you feel like spending a little more on a good steak, go find a good steak at a chain and use the remaining bills in your pocket as a napkin. I'm typically not very picky when it comes to eating out; I'm happy if the food tastes what it looks like and my server pretends that I'm an important part of the overall company mission. After leaving this place, I feel that a cow was slaughtered in vain, a museum somewhere is missing a piece of chocolate cake, and that my wife and I turn invisible at random intervals without realizing it.”

- The Staff!
- There isn't a Bulkheads in Chicago area.
“We loved this restaurant! The service was the best! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food we had was perfect, too. We couldn't believe it. We were in town for the weekend for the NFCC College Softball Tournament. We ate there every night! We couldn't believe the value, we had the surf and turf every night and shared it because there was so much food. For $29.99 you can't beat it. It came with a salad and a side plus the warm rolls that were delicious. We can't speak about any desserts we were to full to have any! I wish there was a Bulkheads nearby.”

“Great food. I love their chicken slake; I guess it's spelled like that. It's awesome. And their gyro wraps, pizzas and their pasta. You guys really rock. I love every kind of their food. Whatever they make tastes awesome and fresh. They make everything from scratch which makes anything they make taste awesome. I eat there almost every other day for lunch and dinner.”
