• Food was okay, but nothing outstanding.
• Service.

“I visited Shoki as a group of 5, and had such a horrible experience that no one in my group will ever return. We were told the wait would be an hour but it was closer to 2 hours, before we were seated. Since the restaurant was crowded, we were seated in a back room. We sat in the room along with 4 other individuals, at least 20 minutes before a member of my party went to the front to request service. The manager apologized, and mentioned someone would be with us immediately. We discovered, the manager was the same person who had walked by our room, and looked in the door 3-4 times without asking if we had been helped. The service from that point was still lacking but at least we were served food. (Someone asked for diet coke and was brought regular coke on 3 separate occasion could go on and on.) To top the evening, a member of my party told the chef that she was allergic to shellfish and asked that her meal be cooked individually in the main kitchen. The chef then proceeds to cook for the remaining party and drops shrimp onto the plate of the person who was allergic to shellfish. Priceless. At that point, we decided to leave as we had been at this restaurant over 3.5 hours. Never again. The food is okay but with service like this, I can't convince myself to visit again. Will Athens ever have a decent Japanese restaurant?”

• Variety, taste, cool atmosphere, friendly, signature apple butter for homemade biscuits.
• Very slow, so don't go if you're pressed for time.

“I haven't been in a while, but if it is still the same, this is GREAT food. One word of caution, the service tends to be way slow, so make sure you've got lots of time to spare. Still, if you can, this is the kind of food and place you'll want to linger anyway. For lunch, they tend to do specials - all kinds of different veggies, veggie casseroles, tofu, etc. They write them on the board and cross each item off as it disappears. You pick something like 3-4 items and it comes with one of their homemade biscuits. (Be sure to ask for their apple butter to add to the biscuit!) The specials are cool, but they have other stuff too. A tofu breakfast scramble that is amazing, and I'm not really big on tofu. If you aren't a vegetarian yourself but like good veggies, frequently with a unique southern flair, give it a try. I still miss it! (Btw, I went to UGA law in Athens, so this review is based on several visits).”

• They should sweep the floor.

“I just don't see the point of keeping peanut shells on the floor. Kind of makes the place look trashy even though it isn't trashy. They should sweep the floor. I've worked in too many restaurants. The place was okay.”

• There Mongolian beef fried rice and garlic shrimp are awesome, they deliver.
• Kind of pricy for dinner.

“They have pretty good food some things are a little pricy but worth the convenience since they have free delivery.”
