• Sitting under the Banyan tree is great.
• The food was not good.

“Used to be our favorite place in Sarasota: great service, atmosphere and of course food. We had our rehearsal dinner there. However, the chefs have all moved on (to Dereks and Metro) and the food has suffered. We took some friends from out of town last week and our meals were bland and uninspired. The soup tasted like it came from a can; the beans for the fried chicken were unseasoned. The prices were always a bit high in the past but the food was fantastic. No mass. We'll have to find a new favorite place. Not worth it at these prices.”

• Great atmosphere felt like a hometown establishment.
• Hard to get a pool table. Too popular.

“This was a fun place to be with all the games and free pool and darts! Will definitely come back on my next trip.”

• Food well prepared.
• Attitude of entire wait staff.

“An enjoyable evening was marred by a very flip waiter. When asked the proper way to eat an African dish he replied -do you want a wiseass answer or another kind. He was asked not to address me as dear (I am not 110 yrs old) he replied sugar britches must also be out. The wait staff seemed to feel guests in a half empty restaurant on a Saturday night were an inconvenience. Sarasota has an abundance of excellent restaurants. Do not waste time or money here. I know the four of us will not return.”

• Waitress & management tried to correct poor food.
• Poor food & high prices.

“Pleasant environment, very good waitress but food was poorly prepared & not cooked properly; of 6 people, 1 meal sent back, 1 meal very poor meat(t-bone), & 2 very average; exorbitant prices ($ 7.50 for a baked potato).”
