- What's not to like about this place, good food, good service, everyone having a good time.
- There is nothing negative about this place except that I have not been there is 15 years!
“When I lived in Pittsburg this was the only place I would have Mexican food. The food was always great, the service outstanding, and the price reasonable. I truly miss this place. Our neighbors and us would go there at least once a month. When my daughter was born, we went there just 2 days after her birth and were told that she was their youngest costumer ever. If you go to visit Pittsburg you have to try this place. One word to describe it would be YUMMY! I have tried several placed in Oregon and so far none of them come even close to New Mecca.”

- Love the "show", including set and characters.
- Hate the long wait for a table if you show up after 5 pm because you have to sit and smell all that good food. Sit at the counter if the tables are full, it's just as much fun!
“A dying breed of old-fashioned lunch counter style, this restaurant is in an old building at the end of railroad aver. Long and Narrow, with booths along one wall and a counter with stools along the other, this Mexican cafe is filled with character, warmth and the smell of home-cooked food. A legion of women in hairnets works the stoves and ovens in the back, which you can view through the window that connects the kitchen to the dining room. Friendly, bustling servers work the dining room with the "captain" of the women, a large woman Named lope, calling out for "ness" to clear tables for the next group of guests waiting patiently for one of the coveted booths. There's nothing here but good hearty, home-style Mexican food. If you are looking for an extensive wine list, fancy margaritas or California style food stick to the areas west of Pittsburg because you won't find it here. The people-watching is the only thing that is better than the food. My husband and I have been eating here since we were first married in 1976, when a dinner including a beer was under $5 (for both of us!). Hurry down there before they are forced by the redevelopment of the downtown area to move to their new location some time in 2008. It's an experience you'll never forget...”
