La Fortuna Inc
Jun 2, 2009 by Barbara from Bethel
Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Water glasses filled frequently.
  • Child size portions for adults, nothing exciting as far as taste.

“I have been to LaFortuna off and on for several years. Have never been really impressed with the place, in fact, I have been disappointed several times. Last night I attended a retirement dinner it was $38.00 per person (dinner only not including drinks). We were served an appetizer which was just one very small piece of brochette per person. Next came a very plain small salad. Dinner was served buffet style. Wait staff served the food on our plates. They gave us very stingy amounts, a small scoop of pasta, small amounts of veal, chicken, and a small portion of stuffed salmon that was no bigger than a small stuffed clam. When some of the men went up to get seconds, there was none. Our drink order was taken when we first arrived, but no one came back to take refill orders until it was almost time for desert, an hour and a half later. And, desert what can I say? There were three tiny little pieces each of something chocolate, cheesecake(?) and stale gingerbread. Those three pieces did not even equal 1/8 of a piece of pie. No one was asked if they wanted a second cup of coffee. One thing that I can complement the restaurant on was that they kept filling up the water glasses probably so that none of us would go home feeling hungry. Also, there were complaints from one table that their waiter was rude, even going so far as to tell someone that they used the wrong plate for something. Believe me. I won't be recommending this place to anyone, or going there again myself.”

Greenwoods Restaurant
Dec 31, 2008 by Kate from Bethel
Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Food:[1] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Atmosphere, service.
  • Food.

“I ordered the BLT salad with steak, and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten in my life. The menu stated that the salad was topped with apple-wood smoked bacon, which could not be further from the truth. The salad was topped with bacon that came straight from the microwave. The steak was not cooked to a medium temperature, as I had asked. It was more rare than anything. There was very little blue cheese, as well as dressing. I should have made a point and said something, but I did not want to cause trouble. I will just never return. Go to the Putnam House instead. You will not be disappointed with their famous honey hot wings, and anything else you chose from the menu.”

Greenwoods Restaurant
Dec 30, 2008 by Dawn from Bethel
Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Food!
  • Nothing.

“Formally Greenwoods and now the Opera House - huge improvement and the food is amazing. The new owner has a wonderful appetizer/entree selection - further broken down into regions of the US. The prices are great and the food is excellent! There is also a bar menu that is awesome. Highly recommend to anyone whether on a date or watching a game in the bar - you will enjoy. In the summer they have live outdoor music on the weekends - perfect for an afternoon and a cold beverage.”

Armandos Family Restaurant
Dec 30, 2008 by Dawn from Bethel
Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[2]

  • Bar area.
  • Food and service.

“Without getting into much detail - the only reason I rated atmosphere higher than the food and service is because the bar area was decent. Other than that the experience is not one that I would repeat and certainly never recommend. The entree arrived close to 2.5 hrs from the time we were seated, the staff was young/inexperienced, the food was terrible (ricotta was gritty a.k.a. frozen and was sent back) and the management was non existent.”

Greenwoods Restaurant
May 16, 2008 by Diane from Fairfield
Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The food, the service, the ambience.
  • Higher than usual noise level.

“To celebrate National Nurses Week, I took our group to Greenwoods, or the new Opera House Restaurant. The service was prompt, and attentive. Both platters of appetizers we ordered were superb, the calamari was lightly fried, crisp and delicious, the marinara sauce accompaniment very tasty! The short ribs came highly recommended, and I was extremely surprised at the quality! The meat was so fork-tender, and the flavor, well, I have to admit, the best I've ever had! The mashed potatoes were real, and prepared to perfection, the green beans and carrots steam sauteed and very delicious! Desserts, including bread pudding, cheesecake and chocolate sundae were enjoyed by my guests! This was a 5-star experience for all!”
