“Superficial affectations of being gracious, but it is all for show and underlying tone gives impression that you are a number; tab was very pricey for the overall value/benefit.”

“A horrible place! The food is disgusting and the owner nick dodo is a jerk, over priced and horrible service and attitudes. Trust me, keep driving, this place stinks!”

• Best food, large menu, incredible hanging decor ceiling, etc.
• Long wait and no reservations.

“If you like real Mexican food & romantic Mexican music this place is definitely worth going to. This is my favorite place. The menu is by far the largest Ive ever seen (about 5 pages) they have a huge selection of traditional seafood, chicken, beef, steak, vegetarian, and pork plates. They have Mexican breakfast dishes all day! Awesome Sangria, beer selections, and in general the food just taste home made. The portions are huge! Definitely enough to take home and eat later the down side is the place is very small and always packed. Just expect to wait at least 30 40 minutes for a table. Thats a good thing.”

“I have been there twice with my first love and it was good both times. My only complaint is the parking and that is pretty much a "so what". The inside decor is way cool and the fellow that owns the place I think was a sports coach of some type. A man came in and greeted him by calling him coach, and that was very cool to me. The guy must like kids so that is worth supporting.”

• Great food and great prices
• Kind of rushed. Can be difficult to park and sometime long wait for tables.

“Our family has been eating at Gen Kai for at least 20 years. It was run for years by Fumiyo, a very hard working and friendly lady who recently sold the restaurant. Luckily the new owner has pledged to uphold the restaurant's traditions and provide the same excellent Japanese food at the same prices. The best deals are the "early diner specials"...up to 6:45pm most days. They have 3 of them, but I always get the "B Special"...Sushi, Sashimi (and lots of it), Salad, Soup, even Ice Cream..more than enough tasty food for even the biggest appetites for less than 10 bucks! You can't go wrong at Gen Kai. The only downside is limited parking, mostly on PCH although they have a small parking lot and the busy nature of the restaurant which means that you will be in and out in less than an hour. The food and the low prices are what you go for.”
