- Chicken meal tasted very good. The waiter was cheery.
- Hostess, customer service = zero.
“Last night, my wonderful in-laws took my husband and I to a very nice place to celebrate our anniversary. Because the area was full, we sat outside in a fountain area to wait for the 30 minutes they said we had before a table would be free. After 20 minutes, my husband went off to make sure they knew where we were. He was told it would be another 20 minutes. As we waited outside, we watched dozens of people enter the restaurant. After an hour wait they finally seated us outside! Now this might not seem like much at first you think, many restaurants have attractive outdoor seating, and so does this eatery. However, bear in mind that we live in Tucson, and this is SUMMER. We were not seated in the regular restaurant garden seating with misters, fans, or anything like that, but instead in a far off solitary section of two tables set up next to the parking lot and the indoor restrooms. We politely asked to have an inside table as soon as it became available and they said sure. By this time our Sunday best dress clothes, hairstyles, and makeup were all much the worse for waiting so long in the heat. Thirty minutes later my daughter went in to check on the status of our table and theyd given it to someone else. This was when my husband called for the manager. And before he got to the table, the entrees were served. Two of the five of us were served the wrong meal. Rocco was served the wrong sides with his meal. When we spoke with the manager, he said, oh, Im sorry, asked what side Rocco had ordered, and left. Our bill totaled over $150. There was no discount, no complimentary beverage, no dessert on the house, no coupon for return. Nothing. Are we over-reacting here or is this standard service now. This is not the first time weve had celebratory meals made memorable by bad service and a lack of care for the consumer.”

Cafe Paraiso

- Good location and plenty of seating.
- Surly staff and dubious food quality.
“Having visited Cafe Paraiso several times, I was always of the opinion that even though the staff was generally surly, the food was good. After my most recent visit I'm inclined to believe that something has changed, and not for the better. Our food arrived at the table quite cool, and I asked to have mine sent back to the kitchen. When it was brought back to me, it was warm enough for consumption if not piping hot. Alas, I spent the rest of the day with pretty severe dyspepsia and stabbing stomach pains, which I am certain were from my breakfast as I consumed nothing else that day. My friend and I were treated with the minimum of courtesy, and no apology made for the inconvenience of being served cold food. There are plenty of places to eat on University- avoid Cafe Paraiso and an unpleasant experience.”

- The mesquite steaks are tender juicy and huge. You leave wanting more, so you come back.
- That I can't visit more often.
“I've visited and lived in Tucson off and on. Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse is one of my all time favorite places to go and eat, relax and then enjoy trail dust town afterwards. It is a great place to take visitors to show them a glimpse of the old west along with old fashioned western hospitality. I highly recommend it.”

- The soup of the day.
- Tables very close.
“A 'speakeasy' bistro hidden inside a wine shop. FYI: no longer as 3200 E. Speedway, moved across the street to 3131 E. First Street. Intimate midtown bistro. Eclectic selection of 'Little Dishes', 'Green Dishes' and 'Big Dishes' from a Seasonal Menu. 'Dish of the Day' was fresh Opah. Fantastic carrot-ginger soup with beet fritters. Near-endless wine selection, as any bottle in The RumRunner - the adjoining wine shop - can be enjoyed in The Dish for $12 over retail.”
