- The price of the food, the customer service and the atmosphere.
“I went to Kro the other day with a group of friends for one of my friends' birthdays, during the usual student lunch break of 1 till 2. We arrived at Kro at about 1:10 and by 1:25 we were still waiting at the bar to be served. The place wasn't exactly busy and there were about 7 of us in our group, yet none of the bar staff seemed interested in serving us and there was no such thing as first-come-first-served - it just seemed to be a case of whoever shouted the loudest got heard. When bar staff finally acknowledged our presence, they told me it would take 15 minutes to prepare the meals that we wanted and so instead, we decided to just order a drink and go without food, as we all had lectures at 2. However, one of my friends, who was feeling unwell and had intended to eat lunch at Kro, bought a salad elsewhere and came back into Kro to eat it with the rest of us, who had all bought drinks, including one for her. When she had almost finished eating it, a very rude member of staff approached her and basically told her off for eating the salad in the restaurant. I tried to explain, but the member of staff walked off, completely disinterested. When he passed by again, he complained a 2nd time to my friend for eating the salad. I tried to explain the situation for her (she is not a native English speaker), but the member of staff was completely disinterested and repeatedly spoke over me saying 'no excuses, no excuses' and so wasn't interested in listening to the fact that it was their poor customer service which meant that my friend had no other option but to get food elsewhere. I immediately regretted having brought so many friends to this restaurant/bar. Aside from this particular instance, I have generally found most of the staff to be very rude and abrupt, generally giving out the idea that they would rather be anywhere but there and that customers are just an inconvenience. I would say, especially to all students, save your money and go elsewhere. The food is certainly not cheap for what you get and when there is no customer concern or service, why would you bother paying more than average prices? I don't know what Kro's official stance to customer service is, but from my various experiences, it seems to me that at Kro the customer is never right basically, one to avoid!”

- Good venue.
- Appalling food, abysmal staff, long wait, petulant waitresses, avoid like the plague.
“I have never been bothered to spend the time to write a review. However I have just returned from a weekday lunch at bar 38 and am seething. Never have I come across such incompetence, outright rudeness, and terrible quality food. Terrible is not a strong enough word actually. In summary: got there, took a seat outside. Waited 15 minutes for service, but the waitresses decided to ignore us. The business associate I had met there for lunch decided to flag down the waitress. She turned her back and muttered conspicuously can you not see I am busy. This is astounding behavior, particularly given that my associate asked in an extremely polite manner (not to mention that we had been very patient already). Time passed. I eventually went inside and got a drink at the bar (this took some time since there was one bar maid serving both restaurant and bar customers) I opened a tab for food. More time passed. Eventually we were able to order food. Food eventually came a Peri-Peri Chicken Wrap. This was plain (not Peri-Peri) pieces of packaged chicken on a wrap, served cold. I didnt raise this because we were now very short of time. Waited some time for the bill. Went inside to pay at the bar, there was a huge queue at the bar. Politely I asked a waitress if we could settle her tab with her. The answer was a curt no you can pay at the bar. I explained that we were now short of time and there was a large queue at the bar. Her next response was incredible well because you wont pay at the bar, Im going to have to get the manager now. Do you want me to do that? This is no way to talk to a customer. The manager surfaced and after a lot of pointing to us, was able to produce a credit card machine. I paid, and then asked for a receipt. Not to my surprise, we had been overcharged. The petulant waitress blamed this on me and my guest since we had told her we were at table one. I pointed out that I asked if we could settle tab one. Eventually I was refunded by cash the relevant amount, but not given a receipt. Time taken for this total debacle: 1 hour 30 minutes. For 2 wraps and 2 mineral waters. I fear this establishment has fallen into the same trap many establishments in London have done thinking that a great venue means they can treat customers like crap. Abysmal!”

- The food, the atmosphere.
- The bill! (but is reasonably priced for such excellent cuisine).
“Great food in a very friendly atmosphere. The owner is a typically friendly Italian who aims to make sure his customers enjoy themselves. Feels like a little piece of Italy in one of Manchester's most vibrant areas.”

- Value for money.
- Fairly noisy.
“My husband and I have been hearing about Greens for years but figured we'd never be in Manchester to get the opportunity to try it. We were thrilled therefore to be going to the city for the World Championships at the Velodrome and took the chance to book a table. We were more than pleased. We fully expected the food to be superb, and it was - my deep fried purl with potato Rogan josh was mouth-boggling if there were such a term and the sticky toffee pudding is simply the best we've ever had and we've had a few! But on top of that we were so impressed by the front of house people. The staff were so friendly and helpful, making us feel genuinely welcome and appreciated - not a common thing in any restaurant. We'll be back!”
