Eurail Pass

The Eurailpass is the most convenient and popular way to see Europe. It allows unlimited Consecutive-day train travel throughout the 17 country Eurail Network and offers a variety of time options to fit any itinerary.

The standard Eurailpass offers 1st class travel for everyone. The Eurailpass Saver option allows travel in 1st class for 2-5 people traveling together. The Eurailpass Youth offers 2nd class travel for youths under the age of 26.

What is the difference between 1st and 2nd class train travel?
First class is more spacious and quieter with fewer seats per compartment or train car. The seats are larger and sometimes more plush. There is more room for luggage and it will generally be less crowded since most Europeans using the train will travel in second class. Some train systems (such as Scotland) only offer second class.

Eurail Pass travel bonus: Railroad
Eurailpasses are valid for unlimited travel in the class indictated on the pass (lst class tickets are also valid in 2nd class) in the trains of national railroads and of some private rail lines of the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Train Tip
A Eurail Select pass will cover border cities, even if the country is not on the pass. For example: although Salzburg is in Austria, you could use your Selectpass to get there from Germany (but not Italy, since it lies close to the German border).
