- It was convenient to public transportation and the airport.
- The room needed a book of local info, restaurants, transportation, etc.
“It was comfortable and convenient. On the other hand, the restaurants within were over-priced and too fancy. It would have been helpful if the room provided a specific book of nearby places to eat and transit maps/info. The hotel did have information on a local pizza delivery, which was excellent and reasonably priced.”

- The restaurant hostess was always smiling.
- Bedbugs, riots, rude cleaning lady, rude bellhop, price-gouging, leaking roof in restaurant.
“Jfk Holiday Inn has bedbugs and riot problems. The worst two nights in a hotel we've ever experienced. There was hair all over the bathroom (not ours). We reported it to the front desk and asked that they would clean it the next day (we were very tired). The next day, I haggled with the cleaning lady to clean the bathroom and carpet. The best answer I could get was "If I have time, baby". About an hour later, my wife started swelling on her leg and neck. She had six bedbug bites from the night before. We requested a different room and it had hair in the bathroom and what looked like a little blood on the toilet. They must use the same cleaning rag to clean everything, leaving a trail of hair from all the previous rooms. We requested a third room. It was clean. That night, a riot broke out in the parking lot. There were about 50 people from the neighborhood that had come to the hotel to cause trouble. There was pushing and punching and a lot of screaming. Others were using their cars to intimidate people in the parking lot. We were on the 7th floor and there was no way I could sleep. Seven police vehicles and a paddy wagon showed up, but they did not disperse the riot. They waited by the front doors until the riot calmed down and then moved them out of the parking lot. We checked out an hour after the riot (4 a.m.). There was a family of 4 in the lobby with confirmed reservations but the hotel was booked up. They asked for our room, which only had one bed. I wrote a complaint to the manager. The manager neither refunded my money nor called me. This hotel charges around $200 per night. The bell hops were rude about us asking if our luggage had arrived from the airport. One of our rooms was facing a very noisy highway. The roof was leaking in the restaurant. Because of our experience, we will avoid New York at all costs. We will never patronize Holiday Inn again. You are much better off to use your money for a taxi to a different hotel, or just stay in the airport and fly first class.”

- I didn't like that hotel.
- The room looked like an old room.
“First of all, asked for non-smoking room, I couldn't sleep very well, because they gave me a smoking room. Second, I could hear all the noise coming from the other rooms (at 3 or 4 am). After that the room looked like an old room, I mean everything looked old, carpet, curtains on windows. The TV wasn't working so good, I could go on and on, with details, but I rather not to do the same next time.”

- Its an island, absolutely nothing around.
“Nice property. Very friendly & competent staff. Clean rooms. Van to airport was a piece of junk, no a/c very hot but did show up in a timely fashion. Good hotel if you've got to leave early in the morning out of JFK. In a bad neighborhood wouldn't recommend walking around. And as I said nothing around so you're stuck eating in the hotel restaurant. Which has really nice staff but the food isn't that good and not a value either.”

- Close to airport and freeway.
- Could not accommodate my needs as an out of state traveler. Would not cash my travelers checks and staff not friendly or helpful.
“Hotel lobby was beautiful, but more money should have been spent on rooms and a better staff. The windows were extremely dirty and could not see out. There was a major crack in our window and was held together by duck tape. I traveled with children and felt unsafe in the room because of the window.”

- Pathetically slow check-in - I waited in line for an hour.
“This hotel is about what you would expect from a well-maintained holiday inn. Nothing fancy, but not overtly cheap either. The rooms were simple and small, but clean. There is very good, close access to JFK, and navigation was fairly easy. We checked in the evening a big storm arrived so there were dozens of stranded airline passengers trying to get a room. This made for an hour-long wait to check in, which I think could have been handled better. I wish they would have had someone handling those with confirmed rooms, and another line for those using airline vouchers.”

- The staff, indoor pool, kids eat free, free airport shuttle.
- Surrounding area, bell hop, bar was closed.
“This hotel has uneven floors. The facilities are older. There are coffee makers and hairdryers. The free shuttle to the airport, indoor heated pool with weight room, and friendly staff make it a place I would return to when traveling through. The maids and maintenance staff were the friendliest people we met in new York.”

- It was close to airport.
- Huge function problems with shuttle, check-in, basic hotel services.
“Reserved this room because close to airport. Took 1 1/4 hours and 4 calls to get shuttle on arrival with no apparent reason. Really, really long lines at front desk throughout evening, and simple questions required excessive waits. Disorganized financial--couldn't decide if guarantee card needed. A.m. Shuttle to airport the very worst of it. Told just come down 10 minutes before. We arrived 30 minutes before and by time shuttle buses arrived approx 80 people were waiting with heavy luggage, and first shuttle arrived mostly full. Luggage being shoved in back of shuttles with no order. One person trying to get cab for 30 minutes+, one person I talked too had been waiting for a shuttle 90 minutes. No reservation or priority system, although this was likely to a common scenario. Management exacerbated problem by helping move late arriving riders to front of people who had been waiting. We never saw a cab arrive, although people were told they had been called. A number of private cars showed up to take people who could afford a .00 ride to the airport across the expressway. Warning: this hotel is a potential disaster if you have an international flight scheduled. If you reserve, be sure to have about budgeted for transportation to and from the airport.”

- I like the restaurant, the bar hours, and the breakfast.
- Restaurant staff was rude, guy who got us a taxi laid charged us an extra $20.
“The rooms were very nice we were next to the elevator and did not hear it. They had a nice gift shop. The bar and restaurant were open till 1pm which was nice. The guy who gave you directions at the front door said a cab ride into the city was $50 its actually $30, but the bus stop is right around the corner and the bus is 15 minutes to the subway.”

- Front desk service very poor.
“The first room I was given had an issue with the air conditioning. The room temp climbed to 80. When I called front desk, they said they would send up an engineer. Then within 5 minutes, they informed me I would have to change rooms and would send someone up with a key. One hour later, after I had packed up and was waiting, no one showed at all. So I had to go downstairs and wait in line 20 minutes.”

- Staff was extremely friendly. When I encountered a problem, it was promptly addressed and corrected.
- My air conditioning unit was not operable in original room. Hotel transferred to a suite to accommodate for this problem.

“the hotel has a great location and is clean however check in was horrible 25 minute to check in with one person in front of me. heating system kept me up all night long every 15 minutes coming on and was very loud, toilet ran off and on all night not a good stay at all. when front desk was made aware they said there wasn't anything they good do except say sorry.”

- Close to airport, free newspaper. Front Desk employee at night was very helpful.
- The Front Desk staff during the day was rude.
“Teeny, tiny room (rooms in New York are typically small -- but this was horrendous). Above and beyond that, it was laid out so awkwardly that it made it seem even skimpier than it truly was. Moving about was uncomfortable and there was NO place to set our luggage. None! The free continental breakfast was not plentiful. The Shuttle Drivers were slow and wouldn't help with the luggage. The Front Desk employee who checked us in during the afternoon was rude. In contrast, the one on duty when we left to catch our plane at 4 a.m. was wonderfully helpful. If it hadn't been for him, our stay there would have been a complete disaster. Since there are other hotels near the airport to choose from, I'll stay elsewhere when I'm in the area again.”

- Clean.
- Dirty underwear in the bathroom, it was not cleaned thoroughly. Obviously an oversight.
“The hotel was a little tricky to get to from the highway but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and cleanliness of the hotel. The check in was quick and efficient and I enjoyed my stay very much.”

- Staff was very helpful with assisting with directions and the best and cheapest ways o get there.
- Only 1 computer in the business center.

- The lobby/ outside appearance.
- It was ghetto.... reps kind of made me feel I was not that important. Plus a guy on elevator told us he smelled someone smoking something foul all night.

- I only spent one night because I was on a lay over but I was impressed about the size of room
- Bathroom fixtures and countertop were DATED, overall it looked dingy
“The proximity to JFK airport makes it ideal especially if you are flying early in the morning. Shuttle to JFK airport starts at 4:30am and it left right on time. It's far from Manhattan but from airport you can get on the A train and be in the city in 25 mins all for $2.00, taxis are expensive. The hotel also offers FREE wireless internet”

- this was a nice hotel. we stayed at the Best Western on the way out it was horrible!
