• Convenient location to both the 270 and 70 highways. Also plenty of stores and restaurants in the area.
• The hotel looked newer from the outside but the rooms were tired and overall, just average.

• Very hard to find had to stop at a Holiday Inn Express to get directions.

“Not easy to find but it was the typical Holiday Inn once I got there. Staff was friendly and helpful. I always put a Holiday Inn in the middle of my family trip because of the washer & dryer.”

• Lots of amenities, recreation, restaurant, bar.
• The black out curtains didn't close, light shone in all night.

“Overall the hotel was nice but the towel bar over the toilet was falling off the wall and the curtains did not close so the light in the pool area shined into the room all night. The overall appearance of the hotel and room was upscale but the rooms still needed to be fine tuned to go about 2.5 stars.”

• Convenient location to restaurants and shopping.
• Our room was (indoor) poolside - which made it noisy during pool hours.

“The hotel was clean, the staff friendly - we requested a king bed - and because they were having an event in the outside parking lot (tented) they gave us a poolside king - the indoor pool facilities caused the noise to be overly loud and echoing - I would not recommend a poolside room to anyone. We also did not see elevators - just indoor stairs - this could cause problems for some. However, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the service very good and we would recommend it based on that. The food at the restaurant was good, and prices compared well to those outside of the hotel.”

• I liked the general cleanliness of the hotel and the fact that there was a fridge and microwave in the room. This makes for good traveling.
• We were given the wrong gift bags and then asked to return them.

“Overall, our stay at this hotel was a short one since we were just in town for a wedding. So the cleanliness was attractive to us. The only run-in we had was that they gave us the wrong wedding gift bags even though our names were on the right ones as we were told during the wedding. When we went back to get the correct ones, they asked us to return the first ones. It would also have been nice at that price range to have had a free hot breakfast available since most hotels in that range would have had that offer. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise, our stay was a very nice and comfortable one.”

• Did hear noise from the traffic.

“The hotel was spread out but the large parking lot allowed you to be close to the exit wherever it was located, It was clean and provided necessary amenities. Bed was comfortable, room warm, love having a refrigerator, most important plenty of hot water.”

• We needed a wine opener and the bar was nice enough to open without charging. Hot tub was a much need break in the day.
• The tile on the bathroom floor was coming off.

“My visit to Frederick was for a funeral. It was a great place to stay and relax in between family events for the funeral.”

• The pool, ping pong, foosball, mini golf for kids and work out room.
• No continental breakfast and expensive restaurant for quality of food.

“The hotel was nice 2.5 star hotels which offered a pool, mini golf, ping pong, and a workout room. Great for families with young kids who want a budget place with lots of activities. The room was decent, but did not have a refrigerator. The on site dinning was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. Overall a nice place. The construction outside the mall made it difficult to cross onto one way of traffic and added time to our destinations.”

• Why do they only put 3 sets of towels in a room that sleeps 4?

“I used to think of this as a family travel hotel that had run out of gas, but it's been remodeled and modernized. Rooms were well clean and well appointed. Wireless internet was easy to access and had a lot of useful information.”

• Older hotel appears upgraded, excellent location. Very clean. Friendly staff, convenient location.
• Looked out at Mall in this room; however there are rooms with Mountain views.

“Excellent location. Within walking distance to restaurants. Parking at the door and quiet for sleeping. Microwave and frig in the room which not all motels/hotels have regardless of price. The internet connection was free and worked very well without complications.”

“Asked that my towels were changed and trash cans emptied. Neither was done. Staff was friendly but did not seem the type to go out of their way. Housekeeping was very helpful but never received the message about the tasks I needed done. Restaurant did not offer many choices and not geared to families.”

• Friendly staff, close to restaurants, shopping, and interstate.
• Rugs extremely dirty, dim lighting in room, slow drain and excessive pressure in shower.

“The staff was very professional, friendly, and thoughtful, and it was easy to get in and out of the hotel. The hotel is located next to the mall and near several restaurants, so the location was great. The carpet in our room was in desperate need of deep cleaning, though. My infant's legs, feet, and hands turned black from crawling around the room, as did the bottom of my feet. The lighting was somewhat dim in the room and bathroom, and the drains in the tub and sink were partially clogged. I was overall disappointed that I paid this much for a room and could not relax in it because of the dirt. On a positive note, the staff was apologetic about the dirt but expected that the whole hotel was in the same condition.”

“The facilities and amenities of this hotel were at least equal to its two plus star rating. The staff was both courteous and helpful. We were traveling with four children age 7 and under as well as two elderly parents with accessibility difficulty, so we phoned the hotel prior to our trip to request non-smoking, first flour--adjoining rooms with easy access and we were graciously accommodated. This was refreshing because it has been our experience that phoning ahead doesn't insure our requests will be met.”

“The Holiday Inn Holidome is fantastic. The staff was nice, and speedy with the check in. They let us stay in the rooms for a late check out. The pool and spa were great, and they have put golf in the building! Super cool joint.”

• The cleanliness of the bathroom left much to be desired.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was not very comfortable and the bathroom was dirty. Since a one time stay may not be indicative of how the hotel is kept, I would stay again. I stick to the rating of 2.5 for this visit.”

• Outside the lobby, it just didn't seem clean.

“This hotel was definitely worth the money I paid. The room was damp and dreary. The bathtub was dirty. We didn't get our wakeup call. The outside trash cans were filled to overflowing. Other than that, it was serviceable. I wouldn't stay there again.”

• Wonderful furnishings and spotless rooms.
• Absolutely nothing - wonderful stay.

“Excellent choice for business and leisure travelers; far better than the typical Holiday Inn. The pool, sauna, and hot tub are conveniently located and well maintained. Updated furnishings, marvelous staff, and exceptionally clean facilities. Conveniently located adjacent to Francis Scott Key Mall and a short drive (< 10 minutes) to Frederick's business district and a brief drive into the Washington, D.C. beltway (~ 25 minutes). Easy access to I-270, I-70, and US 15.”

“My young children, husband and I had a fabulous experience! The facility is clean and well-maintained. Many dining options are available in the hotel and surrounding it. The indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and miniature golf were an unexpected bonus! We hope to return. What a great value!”

• Very poor control of children in a group. Very disruptive including calls at 1am to our room.

“If they are going to accept groups of children they need to be supervised by chaperones, or security, so they are not intrusive on the other guests. The chaperones, in order to make their lives easier, taped the children's rooms shut. Then they retired to their rooms, which were not adjacent to the children's and I am sure had a great night's sleep. We did not! Children in the halls and making calls in the middle of the night.”

• No continental breakfast. Hallway smelled of marijuana one evening and the guests in the next room were smoking in a non-smoking room.

• Room was spacious, updated, bed very comfortable, bathroom new.
• The location is at the back of the mall and you must drive around the mall and go down a winding road to get there.

“The staff was friendly and the room was outstanding! The bathroom was new and the bed was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for the Frederick, md area!”
