• Staff was great, rooms are being upgraded nicely.
• May be due to upgrade, but soundproofing to hallway was bad, very noisy in halls and you heard it in the room.

• Room was smaller than other room we stayed in.

“Hotel is on the top 6 floors of a 26 story building. Approximately 35 miles to NYC. Convenient to I287 - NY Thruway - Route 17. Public areas and room were very clean.”

• Very convenient location for me.
• Front desk staff was a bit arrogant.

“No complaints other than the front desk. When I arrived, there was no one at the desk to check me in. After waiting about 4-5 minutes, one of the front desk personnel came out and walked by me. I asked her if anyone was working, and she told me sorry, I get off at 11. Not really what I want to hear after traveling all day to get to Mahwah.”

• Sheratons are great! This was no exception.
• It was all good.

“Great hotel with friendly hotel personnel. The room was spacious and deluxe. My family and I enjoyed our short stay. And were please to have stayed at this hotel. I recommend the hotel and think that anyone staying there will be satisfied.”

• If in the hotel no place to sleep, how can we have good word to say?
• Be a hotel they don't have place and quiet environment to sleep.

“Because the bed only can squeeze 3 people. They don't even have an sofa which can sleep with. Only have one more pillow and one more blanket. One of my kids no place to sleep. In the morning someone keep crying on the hall way for several hours. No one to stop. We leave the hotel as early as possible.”

• Good breakfast.
• Room had no TV and bed was a fold-out couch! Would not give me another room.

“The hotel put me in a room with no TV (TV was removed because it would only play adult movies). I was given a free breakfast for the inconvenience. When I arrived to the room, the bed was actually a horribly lumpy fold-out couch. I called to ask for a room change, but was told there were no other rooms. I was surprised because there seemed to be very few cars in the parking lot. Very disappointed.”

• Very outdated, a little dirty, loud because of a prom and lacrosse players, difficult to find.

• Cleanliness, upscale ness, convenient location.
• Absolutely hated the unavailability of carts to transport luggage during our late arrival and how the bell staff hid them when they were on duty.

“Excellent accommodations, parking a bit remote, lack of bell carts when the bell staff was not on duty, bell staff made carts inaccessible when they were on duty. Beautiful hotel though!”

• Modern, well appointed clean hotel with resort feeling.
• The night clerk that greeted us was unfriendly and unhelpful.

“This is a nice hotel that is set up to handle business conferences. That seems to be the obvious target market. The rooms were nice and well appointed what you would expect for a 4 star rated hotel. If you have to stay in Mahwah NJ or the nearby area, this is a good option.”

• Lousy bar, very bad parking, no character.

“Parking was bad because of a conference, at least 5 min walk to the front door. As mentioned above, a very small (7 seat) bar, not in line with other Sheratons I have stayed in. Sort of sterile.”

• Nice, comfortable, clean room; pretty location, views.
• Handsome building, but outsized for a beautiful valley which I used to love for it's uncorrupted openness.

“Handsome building, but more appropriately located in the downtown area of a medium-size city, in an attractive location in a foothill valley of the Catskill Mountains. Well kept, clean, comfortable rooms with an attentive staff. Convenient to the usual suburban amenities (shopping malls, fast-food restaurants), at the crossroads of NJ route 17 and the NY State Thruway. Picturesque elevator ride to guest rooms. In-house facilities (pool, restaurant, bar) not utilized, but looked real nice.”

• Nice spacious lobby, fast elevators.
• The rooms were a little small and in need of a refresh.

“Good value. The rooms are in need of a remodeling especially the bathrooms. When you drive up to this hotel, it is very impressive looking. Then when you see the bathroom with peeling wallpaper, a dingy tub with fixtures looking ready to fall off the wall etc., you quickly lose the curb appeal sensation. Good location if you are in this part of NJ. This hotel looks like a 4 star and falls to 2 stars when you enter the room. Why do you have to get a king room to have a decent chair or couch to sit in and watch TV?”

• Rooms had an awful, strong disinfectant smell.

“Feels like a corporate office building (which the lower floors all). In the middle of nowhere. Rooms had a horrible, strong disinfectant odor. I requested a change of rooms twice. All three rooms smelled and caused my asthma to act up. One room had shabby, worn furnishings. There was a distasteful nightclub on the first floor. It was a singles party night. Lots of inebriated people hanging out in the lobby when I arrived. Not the 3 star experience I was expecting.”

“This worked for my short trip. It was a good thing I had a car. It was adequate, but I would not be eager to stay here again. That's all it was worth.”

• It was a little tricky getting to it.

“I think this hotel is outstanding! It was beautiful, clean, and the staff was very friendly. They had a business room where we had access to print our boarding passes. There was many facilities: pool, gym, restaurant, bar, in room movies/video games etc.”

“Was acceptable for a 3 star. Bad point starting the stay, I was notified I would not be able to gain star wood points. But since I put my card up they added my number to the reservation to recognize my stay.”

“This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The staff was great. We enjoyed the exercise room and pool/spa. It is difficult to find in the dark. The entrance from the interstate is a little tricky so get very good directions. We over-slept the breakfast but the staff accommodated us in the dining room 1/2 hour before they were to open for lunch. This is going beyond expectations to serve the weary traveler.”

• Nice swimming pool, hot tub and exercise room. Well kept rooms.
• Valet did not help with luggage when we arrived.

“Sheraton Mahwah lived up to it's rating. The staff was helpful in offering free map quests to our destinations. My kids really enjoyed the buffet breakfast as well as the swimming pool and spa. The only surprise was that the valet did not offer to take the luggage to the room although he was sitting at the front door. Otherwise a wonderful stay.”

• Parking is a long walk from lobby and showers are made for very short people!

• Room was small with an odd angle. No free breakfast.

“A standalone tower off route 17, this Sheraton has a semi-resort feel because of its remoteness and large green grounds surrounding it. Because it's isolated, it's also very quiet with no road or traffic noise whatsoever, further adding to the resort feel. The pool and gym were very nicely done and excellent for families or business travelers. The room was well appointed for this class of business hotel and comfortable. Only small criticism was that the room was a bit small and had a funny angle which made the room feel even more cramped.”

• Pool unmonitored.

“The pool needs to be monitored. The Hilton in Woodcliff lake has an attendant, but this hotel does not. I sat by the pool on Sunday morning, and saw unsupervised children running and diving, and lowlife parents putting their two year olds in diapers in the pool. Yuck! A big health department no-no.”

• Its restaurant staff is very responsive and efficient.
• We were unable to get even a single room that had two separate beds.

“We were told that we could, at the time of check-in, only obtain a smoking room. We had to pay an additional $30 per room to obtain a non-smoking room. Still, the hotel was not able to satisfy our need for two rooms with two double beds. The assigned rooms had a pull -out bed, neither of which had sheets.”
