• Hotel rate was more than it should have been for this property.

• Rooms were very clean.
• Breakfast not set up on time.

“The Howard Johnson is located within a few miles of anywhere that you want to be in Newport. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly. However, breakfast is not complimentary. We arrived at breakfast at 7:45 to find that it was not set up yet, even though it started at 7:00.”

• The front desk staff was very good.
• They were having carpet installed in the lobby and throughout the hallways, and that made it a bit inconvenient.

“Good location, good value, and there is an Applebee's attached so that you can get a meal without leaving the hotel.”

• Newly updated rooms. Great staff friendly and courteous. pool sauna and hot tub where great.
• Even though our room was non-smoking, the hallway through which we had to pass even once in a while did smell of smoke.

• Extremely large rooms, nice staff, health club, sink outside bathroom, attractive rooms.
• Can't think of anything negative about our experience.

“This hotel is excellent. Staff is so nice, location is perfect, rooms are so large and clean and attractive. Extra sink outside bathroom, coffee maker, hair dryer, comfortable beds and furniture. It was an awesome experience, loved it.”

• Large clean room with amenities, sliding screen door to small balcony.
• Entrance light inside door not working.

“We were pleased with the large clean room, the convenient location (to Newport as well as Middletown). A nice touch, shortly after we settled into the room, the front desk called to make sure everything was in order, and to ask if we needed anything. Sure beats bunking with the grandchildren. We'll be back.”

• Very friendly staff, great location, nice amenities - pool, whirpool, sauna
• The room's walls were a little thin

“It is a great location with easy access to Newport. It has a very friendly, helpful staff. We loved the whirlpool, pool, and sauna. The price was very affordable. It has easy access to a grocery stories, 3 drugstores, and several affordable and good restaurants. We loved it.”

• Clean nicely renovated rooms!
• Applebees is just terrible.

“Newly renovated rooms are quite comfortable, loved the little balconies, pool area clean - bathrooms were spotless.”

• The room was antiquated,old,run down and cramped

“The staff was accomodating after we expressed our dissatisfaction with the condition of our room.The night we we arrived there were no other options.The following day we were moved to a remodeled room which was much better,but small.”

• Was very impressed with the cleanliness, very comforatable stay, and very quiet as well.
• The soda machine stole my money.

“We stayed in room 247, double beds, very comforatable, people had pets below us but couldn't hear a thing. Hotel staff were very friendly. Would reccomend to family and friends.”
