• My room was a lovely room, very comfortable bed, clean and the bathroom has both shower and bath, not something you usually find in a guest house.

“The Hollies is an excellent place to stay,especially if you attending an event at the University, which is a pleasant 15-20 minutes walk away. There are a couple of nice pubs in Fulford village (10mins walk). The standard of cleanliness is excellent and”

• Clean and tidy premises. Courteous owner.
• Shower room needing to be modernised. Lack of soap and adequate
  supply of bath towels.

“Disappointed that the premises were so far from central York.
Details prior to booking slightly misleading.
Not entirely satisfied with value for money aspect of the
accommodation.”

• Overall very good.
• The hotel is far enough outside of city centre to make walking an annoyance.

“Overall very good. Only two negative points:

I arrived late (about 9 pm) and almost couldn't get in. The door was locked, and there didn't seem to be anyone around. Thankfully, someone heard my knocking and let me in.

The first morning we came downstairs at 9 am and learned that we had missed breakfast. (Although they were very nice and made coffee for us, we had to make due with toast and cereal to eat.) I don't know if they stop cooking before 9, or if they thought we were still sleeping.”

• Good, straightforward and clean
• Parking a bit difficult in a crowded driveway!

“This was a good, clean, honest, pleasantly furnished place to stay and we'd have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

The only obvious improvement would be for breakfast to be available over a longer period. 08.00 to 08.45 is a little restrictive for people wanting a relaxing weekend break.”

• Easy going informal.

“Easy access to city centre - no driving needed. Good food comfortable accommodation. Nothing needed to have known prior to booking. Lots of leaflets whats on available at guest house.”

• The room and facilities were wonderful, food was lovely!
• Parking was a little cramped - but this is the only negative

“I am very glad that I booked this guest house. It was very conveniently situated for York. We found the owner helpful and friendly. On our return, I recommended the guest house to everyone who asked about the weekend. We had a really lovely time.”

• Excellent hospitality, breakfast, service and atmosphere. Parking was sufficient but not spacious.
• No bad points at all.

“The Hollies is a guesthouse with excellent facilities and service.
The personal touch and attention to guest satisfaction is of a fantastic standard. We stayed in the mickelgate suite and were very impressed with the decor, ensuite and beautiful four poster bed.

As a young couple we did not know quite what to expect from a family run guesthouse. We found the Family, tourist information and atmosphere delightful. We found the folders supplied in our room

We would not hesitate to recomend the Hollies to friends, family and strangers!

Nothing was too much trouble for the family, they were happy to answer our endless questions abot finding our way around the town, places to eat and vist and even recommend the most lovely walk to the town centre via the canel and surrounding parks. We wish them every success with their business and will definately return again.

We would like to thank them immensly for their kind welcome and their presence in making our stay wonderful and feel the Hollies was excellent value for money. Well done!”
