• Mainly fine but wardrobe door broken.

• single, non smoking room. Access to decent faclities. Excellent bath/shower/towels. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent choice of food at breakfast - attractive dining room.
• Carpets and curtains a tad dingy

“It suited my purpose.Excellent internet booking, good, friendly reception on arrival. All staff were friendly - as if they cared. Convenient location (I was running a seminar/workshop at the university). Onsite parking.

By the way, this is a well constructed evaluation form.”

• Convenience to Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and quiet location.
• Badly in need of refurbishment. All floorboards were creaking and decor is dated.

“This is my second time staying at this hotel and the only reason I stayed here again was because of the convenient location for the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. I could not find a more convenient hotel. Hopefully my wife will not need to attend the hospital again but if so, I will try to find different accomodation.
The hotel is classed as 3* by the AA but I find this hard to believe. The cost to stay in this hotel I feel cannot be justified. Maybe if it is completely refurbished.
While the staff were very friendly and helpful, I could not find any other positive point other than previously mentioned convenient location. Creaky floorboards throughout, shoddy decor, and a lift that is slower than walking up the stairs and does not feel safe.
There is potential for this to be a great hotel, but it will take a lot of work.”

• Bed extremely uncomfortable with springs poking out of mattress. Very noisy all night long. Lots of deliveries made to hotel seemed to happen directly outside my room, early in the morning. Was unable to turn radiators on.

• Big bedroom
• Bathroom freezing cold and bath itself a bit old and tatty.

“Very 'higgly-di-piggly-di' hotel. There were loads of little staircases, both up and down to get to our bedroom.”

• The bedroom was of a nice size, and the facilities were of good standard.
• There werer a number of functions on the Saturday night, which meant that we could not use the bar, but we did NOT consider that it spoiled our stay.

“The hotel was in a good location for us. The bedroom was of a nice size, and the accomodation was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. We neded a fairly late meal on the Sunday evening, and the food was good and the service very pleasant. We shall certainly stay again.”

• The breakfast was good
• The rooms are noisy and on more than one occasion someone was using a vacuum cleaner before 7 am

• Simple and clean and tidy - no frills
• No problems - room seemed to be a bit of a last minute room.

“The staff were excellent from the first minute we were there to the last.... Except, I was staying with my daughter, who was unfortunately ill with tonsilitis. Not your problem I know, but I felt some compassion with the cost of the meal that she could not eat could have been shown! Total bill for the 1 night exceeded '100.”

• Friendly Staff, Good Food, Comfortable Relaxed atmosphere
• Small Bathroom,

“The Rutland Hotel, is a relaxing comfortable place to stay at an affordable price. Good sized rooms, and a good hearty breakfast make for a pleasant weekend. But do bring your own soap and wash things as little is provided without extra cost. Check on a map of how to get there as roadworks disrupt the hotels instructed route.”

• Ideal location to visit event
• Musty room. Very uncomfortable bed. Much noise during the night.

“Hotel looked great from the outside, disappointed when we went in. Really does need to be refurbished, could be lovely. Staff just managed to supply our late night request for food, although we didn't feel the request was welcome. ( 24 hour snack food well advertised) Breakfast was well below standard, we couldn't eat it.”

• The hotel was amazing it was set in good location and very comfortable
• The noise on saturday night from the wedding disco till 1am!!! I was not warned

“As i have said I would like to have been warned about the disco and mayby been offered alternative quiter room, however I slept so well the previous night the room was very clean yet spacious and room service was fab too.”

• Location good for university etc. Nice setting. Decor comfortable. Good breakfast. Despite the usual wedding on saturday night the room was reasonably quiet. Good setting and location. Not expensive.
• Room and en-suite small. Corridor floors very creaky. Car park had puddle 2-3 inches deep (over top of shoes).

“This hotel is a group of converted houses and as such has nice gardens and setting but our room was small. As with most hotels at weekends it be may be wise check to the room location in relation to the dreaded wedding disco. I would use the Rutland again having used others in the locality but would ask for a larger room.”

• TV remote didn't work. Noisy.

“The accommodation was generally ok for what I wanted (close to university, city centre, daughter's flat) and for the price quite good value compared with other city centre hotels, but the room was noisy - next to busy road and noises from other rooms. There was also vacuuming at 7:15 am. The staff at checkin, in the bar and in the restaurant were all friendly and very helpful.”

• We ordered food (sandwiches) at night (after 10pm) which were very poor quality and very expensive.

• Television Channel choice poor.more information on hotel/area in Room would be helpfull(Breakfast tmes etc)

• Tatty throughout and bedroom was terrible, small and very tatty

“Despite claims of a refurbishemnt this was difficult to spot... the general appearence of the hotel was tatty, peeling wallpaper and shabby carpets. My room had water damage in eaves and apart from an obviously new loo there was little to suggest anyone had attempted to refurbish the room in the last 20 years!”

• because i couldn't get anybody to access a computer to book second room at lower rate as first room was charged higher, due to unfortunate circumstances could not book all rooms via internet as had to be on hand for emergencys at hospital

“that further additional booking to get reduced rate as the day before was needed to gain access through computerfelt that under MY circumstances could have used a bit of compasion and charged same rate when booked on line. However i must convey that the staff were wonderfull very polite and helpfull at all times, also great compliments to your chef as the food was outstanding ,fantastic value for money ( could not eat it all).”

• interior of the room. big bathroom. good location.
• No tea in the room (only coffee). Poor heating.

“The hotel is quite far from the city centre, but is in a nice, green and quiet area. Very close to the University of Sheffield. Recomended for parents who is planning to visit their child in the University.”

• check-in staff and restaurant staff excellent. food and menu good. pleasent location
• bed had a very hard mattress. room was quite small

“Hotel was good, staff very friendly and helpful. food was good in the restaurant at both dinner and breakfast. Location for the city was ideal with enough parking. Location was easy to find. I would have preferred a softer bed as the mattress was extremely firm, also the room could have been bigger for a double room. The one main drawback was the room window overlooked the entrance for the hotel services and we were disturbed at an early hour by laundry, food suppliers etc. Manageable for 1 night but no longer.”

• Ideal location for the west side of Sheffield. Food on the evening meal and Breakfast was very good.
• Poor reception on BBC1 in Hotel room
