“We were very pleased on the whole. We thought thatthe bathrooms were excelent although my wife was unclear how to make the shower hot, which could have been explained to us on arrival.” Apr 20, 2005 by

“Generally a very good hotel and a good service. Shame though about the second night.I was awakened at 3am by a guest near my room who kept slamming their door as they kept going backwards and forwards to their room. They kept ordering room service and each time the porter arrived by thier door I heard him knocking at the door, then I heard the slam of the door. I did report it to the reception but the reception did not sort it out soon enough. By 5am I was still awake.” Apr 5, 2005 by

“Staff were helpful, hotel location was an ideal base to explore and minutes from main station. Wonderful decor. As a regular visitor to Birmingham would stay there again.” Mar 3, 2005 by

“I think it should be mentioned, as this hotel is near a busy road, some traffice noise may be heard, I have stayed in city hotels before, but never experience, this nuisance noise” Dec 16, 2004 by
Daniel from North Finchley, United Kingdom
“I paid extra because the site gave the impression that breakfast was inclusive, when infact it was an additional '30 for my wife and I (Apparently the internet published prices had increased). My recommendation would be to save yourself '12 per person by going to one of the many outside cafe's for the full english. Also there was no mention that the only parking available was for the local shopping centre at approx '10 a day.... Also the hotel did not have any record of my booking, and basically told me that I was lying about having pre-booked, until I provided them with my reservation printout. I am still waiting to see if I have been charged twice...” Dec 2, 2004 by

“Very good - nice central location but quiet and relaxing” Nov 10, 2004 by

“Thoroughly enjoyable - lovely to have butter out of a dish at breakfast rather than unwrapping a sachet. Talking of breakfast I was a bit surprised I had to pay for it but I suppose a room only price does rather imply that. Anyway it was a jolly good breakfast. I'd have preferred an all-in price for B&B.” Nov 4, 2004 by

“A very nice traditional hotel, with polite and helpful staff. It has an excellent location close to New Street Station and is se tin the middle of the shopping precinct, with noise levels from the street perfectly tolerable. As the hotel is in the shopping area, there is a reasonable walk before you get to the restaurant area, should you choose not to use the hotel restaurant.” Sep 21, 2004 by
Nicholas from Blandford Forum, United Kingdom
“Directions to the hotel were poor on-line, the map does not show one way streets, and on the telephone from the desk. Nothing says the hotel is in a pedestrian presinct, self-Parking does not indicate that you have to park in the Pallisades car park. This would have been a help and we could have followed signs to the car parkwhich is close to the hotel. Aug 27, 2004 by

“The location was ideal for shops, railway station and also for the conference I was attending. The communal areas (reception etc) were very atractive and the staff at reception wwere friendly and efficient. No mini bar in room which was unusual. The food in the restaurant was very disappointing particularly for a 4* hotel and was not good value for money. My room (a single) was extremely small and difficult to move around in as there was far too much furniture.” Aug 25, 2004 by

“Great hotel, very convenient for the centre of Birmingham and excellent VFM as the room was enormous! Treated very well by the staff and would definately stay again. Only gripe is that as a driver it's very hard to find the nearest overnight carpark with spaces and then there's a bit of a trek with luggage to the hotel. This could be made a little clearer on the booking info, with recommended carparks and directions.” Aug 17, 2004 by
Lee from Chesterfield, United Kingdom
“Excellent hotel, nicley decorated, very clean, one of the best in Birmingham. The staff were polite and attentive, bar was very nice and food was good. The experience was spoiled only by the room being too hot, which lead to difficulty sleeping. Very small window let in very little air, and opened onto roof filled with noisy air con etc machines.” Hotel Representatives:
