• friendly staff, close to ammenities,double bed not expected, en-suite
• decor a bit tired, carpet needed vacuuming otherwise clean, but hotel being refurbished

• Small, friendly hotel, but see general comments below.
• A bit old fashioned, but see below. Breakfast very ordinary -white bread, no fruit.

“There is a warning in the room about engineering works on the nearby railway bridge during the night in the next few months. I will not stay in this hotel during that period.
Also, the hotel is being refurbished in the spring of 2005. This should help its appearance.”

“I was most disappointed when on arrival I was allocated a non smoking room when I had made it clear when booking the room that it was imperative that I have a smoking room. I was also concerned about the general decor in the room as wallpaper was peeling away from the wall and there were also several stains on the wallpaper. I use hotels around the country regularly and have found other hotels more pleasant than the waterside that have offered far more value for money and including a breakfast. I was also shocked to be woken several times by people leaving the city centre after the bars had closed. The hotel was in a perfect situation for my work as I work around the corner whenever I am working in Newcastle, however I will not be using this hotel again. I also felt that my complaints about the non smoking room were not taken seriously by the reception staff and I was refused the opportunity to talk or even leave a message with the manager to state my concerns.”

“Comfortable and friendly, room could do with more attention to presentation i.e. wallpaper fraying round lightswitches etc but on the whole an enjoyable enough experience”

• Proximity to City Centre with good access from Link roads
• Car parking is severly limited even though offer of Voucher late at night did not give available parking spot

• Excellent location for quayside nightlife! The Closest and best by Far!!!

“The Hotel was in a fantastic location in relation to the nightlife. Parking was just across the road and the directions to the hotel were excellent for someone who has never been to Newcastle before.”

• we thought we got what we paid for so was not disappointed.
• The windows were old so they let in a slight chill.

“The hotel was worth the money we paid so we really didnt have any quarrells and did not experience it fully (the bar etc). Would stay there again overnight but not for a weekend (2 nights or more).”

• The sheets were clean.
• Squalid,seedy,smelly,noisy,sleazy. The receptionist was feet up,smoking.breakfast staff useless,food grim.

“Parking instructions in advance would have been useful. The precise nature of the location would have forewarned us of some of the noise.
There is no excuse for an unvacuumed room; for ingrained dirt and mould in the bathroom; or for filthy net curtains torn onto a hook as the rod was broken. The wardrobe had a smelly curtain instead of a door.
The breakfast room was the domain of a useless female playing her choice of radio programme v loudly. Her kitchen companion and she seemed uncaring beyond belief.”

• Close to all nightlife, easy to get to, clean rooms, friendly staff, good value.
• Shower was cold, could only get hot water through the bath taps. Breakfast little overpriced.

“I would like to have had better directions as the hotel to an unfamiliar visitor is not easy to find. Also better identification outside the hotel. Didn't realise breakfast was extra. Generally though I enjoyed my stay.”
