L. W. from Baytown, TX
“Maybe a three star but definitely not a four star hotel. Had amenities but no staff support for them (except gym). Staff was not friendly and had to ask manager to make decisions. Disorganized for major hotel. Had to make four trips to get my room key to work at check-in. Safe was broke. Several lights were out. Had to request soaps and towels after housekeeping finished. Location was out of the mainstream and the area did not feel safe.” Jan 20, 2008 by
Mark from Ft. Lauderdale, FL
“Horrible hotel, Smokey, dirty and old.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Paul from Victoria, BC CA
“Pool is nice, staff is nice. Rooms are tiny. Not downtown, you cannot walk there.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Cynthia from Bethlehem, CT
“Would not recommend this hotel - pay the minimum because there is much more available in Zurich better. Very uncomfortable stay - location is poor - not in the center- the room was smaller than an average European room, especially a 4-star hotel - which is a high rating - carpet, was very dirty and soiled- bedding was old and worn, window treatment old, worn and dirty - bathroom renovation was poor quality - shower curtain dirty and mold.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Cynthia from Bethlehem, CT
“We were very disappointed with this hotel and would not stay here again or recommend it. The room smelled; the carpet so dirty unable to walk on. Window treatment was dirty. The bedding was very worn and old. Bed and pillow terrible. The room was small. There was no place for luggage. Hotel is less favorable of an area. It is not worthy a 4-star rating even with a restaurant and facilities.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Judy from Mendocino, CA
“Very inconvenient location; smoky rooms - almost ruined our short stay in Zurich.” May 16, 2007 by
Darlene from Gulf Breeze, FL
“Very nice hotel, the staff was very helpful. Great exercise room and swimming facilities. Close to stores. Also very attractive restaurant.” Feb 24, 2007 by
Dave from Roseville, CA
“Great workout room, but poor location and average rooms.” Dec 15, 2006 by
Marc from Highland Park, NJ
“Really a three-star hotel (I stayed at the Zurich Marriott and swimsuit as well, those are true four-star properties). Location not central for the leisure traveler, but it is near many offices. Being re-branded as a crown plaza in January 2007, which is more appropriate?” Oct 27, 2006 by
Morris from New York, NY
“A good business hotel that is poorly located but very attractive.” Sep 2, 2006 by
Joseph from Monroe, LA
“Would have been fine if closer to center of Zürich suggest you revise map or zones for Zürich.” Aug 14, 2006 by
John from Mableton, GA
“I didn't really have any problems with this hotel overall, but it is clearly not a four star hotel on par with other Intercontinental properties. Rating the Intercontinental, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. However, the room was very small and the location was not exactly close to town. There was a grocery store a block away and this made it easy to pick up some food for the room. The tram station was only 2 blocks away but the hotel was a 10 minute tram ride from the central part of town. Overall, I would stay here again for the low price.” Jul 29, 2006 by
Kelly from Espoo, CA
“N/A” Jun 23, 2006 by
Marc from Highland Park, NJ
“Only one phone in room, small room, no blackout curtains, thin walls, location inconvenient for access to downtown Zurich, but convenient for many businesses nearby.” Jun 3, 2006 by
John from Tucson, AZ
“Hotel needed lots of updating. Everything looked ragged. Would not stay there again. The hotel was not up to the usual standards of an Intercontinental Hotel.” Apr 16, 2006 by
Ignacio from Key Biscayne, FL
“It's not Downtown. It's 4 stars and I would preferred 5 stars for my next stay.” Mar 20, 2006 by
Jefferson from San Francisco, CA
“The Intercontinental Zurich is way below the class or quality of other Intercontinental. The lobby is 'fair,' but the rooms are old and so small I could not find room on the floor to open my luggage. I had to put the luggage on the bed to open it. Ridiculous. This Intercontinental does damage to the Intercontinental brand.” Mar 3, 2006 by
Darcy Z. from Dallas, TX
“The hotel is to out dated. Hallways were are dim and the entrance above each door was a shadow box decorated in Hollywood light bulbs as if you are going into a 70's game show or a Peepshow. In some place the carpet was torn or stained and overall they just needed to be replaced. The beds are very warped and old. Headboards are dusty, stain and solid. The doors are hollow and you can hear everything.” Feb 27, 2006 by
Kathryn from New York, NY
“The Intercontinental Hotel, Zurich is located several miles west of the city's center, along a trolley route. The hotel's staff was cordial and supplied extra pillows and directions. The room itself was very small. However, the pool and fitness areas were outstanding. It gave us a nice place to go in the evening without leaving the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel looked rather meager, and you could buy breakfast there for 30 CHF per person. The hotel bar looked inviting and had live music (piano).” Jan 3, 2006 by
Timothy from San Diego, CA
“The Intercontinental is a solid four-star hotel located a short 15-minutes tram ride (plus a 5 minutes walk) from the city center. Trams run multiple times per hour. Prices for breakfast (30 CHF per person), airport shuttle (15 CHF per person) are generally expensive. I am sure the mini bar, hotel restaurant, and other goods or services are priced similarly. Staff is fluent in English, and hotel caters to English speaking visitors.” Dec 23, 2005 by
John from Miami, FL
“Disappointed. I select 4 star hotel and always seem to get one which is old and tired holes in carpet, old bedspreads will be my last time using your service.” Dec 14, 2005 by
Farley from Belmont, CA
“Hotel is poorly located and not near center of town. Rooms are very small, even by European standards. Also, no WiFi, and very expensive Internet. Europe needs to lower Internet access costs. Many cheaper hotels offer WiFi for free.” Oct 28, 2005 by
Joanne from Wayne, IL
“This hotel was a perfect end to our vacation. The room was clean and a good size. The beds were comfortable and room service was pleasant. We used the pool and whirlpool facilities and they were clean and convenient.” Oct 15, 2005 by
David from Dallas, TX
“The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But, it is a 15 minute tram ride from central Zurich, and is in a quiet residential area with nothing going on past 8 pm.” Aug 10, 2005 by
David from Houston, TX
“The hotel did not meet my expectations.” Jul 19, 2005 by
Diane from Arlington, TX
“This was acceptable only because it was near the tram which took us to the lake, etc. Otherwise, it was very disappointing--hardly four-stars!” Jul 3, 2005 by
John from Philadelphia, PA
“The hotel is located a little bit outside the center of Zurich, but the city center can be easily accessed by the tram (about 10 minutes). Overall I had a very good experience.” Jul 1, 2005 by
Oleg from Tucson, AZ
“Hotel is in an uninteresting area at least 20 min by tram away from the center of town. The hotel's exterior looks ugly, but inside it's clean, modern and efficient. The rooms were excellent, but any extras cost a lot of money. We took a hotel shuttle from the airport and were informed upon arrival that it costs $30. There are charges for using the swimming pool, exercise facilities, and other amenities that are normally free. Breakfast is not included.” May 31, 2005 by
Diego from Berkeley, CA
“Nice hotel, very clean and well kept, overall a good value. Not in downtown, but easily accessible using the tram. Very nice and professional staff. Decent size rooms for Swiss standards.” Mar 29, 2005 by
Charles from Placentia, CA
“The location was HORRIBLE, miles out of the center of town when it's advertised as being in the city center. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. How could this hotel even be rated 4-stars? The staff was horrendous when it came to local information, the location was in a VERY BAD neighborhood for a 4-star hotel, and the rooms were dirty and very small.” Sep 10, 2004 by
Bernhard B. from Tuebingen “This is the worst Intercontinental I've every stayed in. More like a Holiday Inn than an Intercontinental. For the price paid it is ok, but for the regular price it is a rip off. Small rooms, slow service etc.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
