• Roof and a bed.
• Concierge was very young and no experience. Hotel forced us to take a larger room at extra cost for my daughter. Extra charges for everything.

“Maybe a three star but definitely not a four star hotel. Had amenities but no staff support for them (except gym). Staff was not friendly and had to ask manager to make decisions. Disorganized for major hotel. Had to make four trips to get my room key to work at check-in. Safe was broke. Several lights were out. Had to request soaps and towels after housekeeping finished. Location was out of the mainstream and the area did not feel safe.”

• Room outdated- odor- dirty-small - poor location.

“Would not recommend this hotel - pay the minimum because there is much more available in Zurich better. Very uncomfortable stay - location is poor - not in the center- the room was smaller than an average European room, especially a 4-star hotel - which is a high rating - carpet, was very dirty and soiled- bedding was old and worn, window treatment old, worn and dirty - bathroom renovation was poor quality - shower curtain dirty and mold.”

• Phone worked, TV channels ok, bath products usable.
• Carpet soiled & dirty, bedding old & worn, bathroom dated, shower curtain dirty & mold, hotel needs renovations & updating, room small.

“We were very disappointed with this hotel and would not stay here again or recommend it. The room smelled; the carpet so dirty unable to walk on. Window treatment was dirty. The bedding was very worn and old. Bed and pillow terrible. The room was small. There was no place for luggage. Hotel is less favorable of an area. It is not worthy a 4-star rating even with a restaurant and facilities.”

• Good business class hotel.
• Small room, cheap bed, drab furniture.

“Really a three-star hotel (I stayed at the Zurich Marriott and swimsuit as well, those are true four-star properties). Location not central for the leisure traveler, but it is near many offices. Being re-branded as a crown plaza in January 2007, which is more appropriate?”

• Pool and fitness facilities. Bed was very comfortable.
• Room was VERY small.

“I didn't really have any problems with this hotel overall, but it is clearly not a four star hotel on par with other Intercontinental properties. Rating the Intercontinental, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. However, the room was very small and the location was not exactly close to town. There was a grocery store a block away and this made it easy to pick up some food for the room. The tram station was only 2 blocks away but the hotel was a 10 minute tram ride from the central part of town. Overall, I would stay here again for the low price.”

• Location inconvenient for access to downtown Zurich.

• Very few redeeming qualities, the lobby was 'fair.'

“The Intercontinental Zurich is way below the class or quality of other Intercontinental. The lobby is 'fair,' but the rooms are old and so small I could not find room on the floor to open my luggage. I had to put the luggage on the bed to open it. Ridiculous. This Intercontinental does damage to the Intercontinental brand.”

• The staff was polite.
• Beds very old and worn. Question bed bugs. Head boards where stain and dusty. Carpet needed to be replaced. Hollywood lights game show out line doors.

“The hotel is to out dated. Hallways were are dim and the entrance above each door was a shadow box decorated in Hollywood light bulbs as if you are going into a 70's game show or a Peepshow. In some place the carpet was torn or stained and overall they just needed to be replaced. The beds are very warped and old. Headboards are dusty, stain and solid. The doors are hollow and you can hear everything.”

• The Intercontinental Hotel has a fitness center, sauna, pool, and access to massage.
• The hotel rooms were very small and the bathrooms were dirty.

“The Intercontinental Hotel, Zurich is located several miles west of the city's center, along a trolley route. The hotel's staff was cordial and supplied extra pillows and directions. The room itself was very small. However, the pool and fitness areas were outstanding. It gave us a nice place to go in the evening without leaving the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel looked rather meager, and you could buy breakfast there for 30 CHF per person. The hotel bar looked inviting and had live music (piano).”

• High quality, location is easily accessible by city tram (15 minutes to city center).
• Outside of city center.

“The Intercontinental is a solid four-star hotel located a short 15-minutes tram ride (plus a 5 minutes walk) from the city center. Trams run multiple times per hour. Prices for breakfast (30 CHF per person), airport shuttle (15 CHF per person) are generally expensive. I am sure the mini bar, hotel restaurant, and other goods or services are priced similarly. Staff is fluent in English, and hotel caters to English speaking visitors.”

• Clean and efficient.
• Rooms are very small and tired decor. Few business amenities. WiFi and Internet is very expensive.

“Hotel is poorly located and not near center of town. Rooms are very small, even by European standards. Also, no WiFi, and very expensive Internet. Europe needs to lower Internet access costs. Many cheaper hotels offer WiFi for free.”

• The warm greeting and friendly staff.
• The location is far from the city center.

“This hotel was a perfect end to our vacation. The room was clean and a good size. The beds were comfortable and room service was pleasant. We used the pool and whirlpool facilities and they were clean and convenient.”

“The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But, it is a 15 minute tram ride from central Zurich, and is in a quiet residential area with nothing going on past 8 pm.”

• Actually nothing except it was a place to sleep.
• The halls were dirty. In our first room, the bedspread and curtains had a cigarette burns. They changed us to a different room.

“This was acceptable only because it was near the tram which took us to the lake, etc. Otherwise, it was very disappointing--hardly four-stars!”

“The hotel is located a little bit outside the center of Zurich, but the city center can be easily accessed by the tram (about 10 minutes). Overall I had a very good experience.”

• The rooms are clean and spacious.
• They don't tell you ahead of time that the shuttle from the airport costs $30.

“Hotel is in an uninteresting area at least 20 min by tram away from the center of town. The hotel's exterior looks ugly, but inside it's clean, modern and efficient. The rooms were excellent, but any extras cost a lot of money. We took a hotel shuttle from the airport and were informed upon arrival that it costs $30. There are charges for using the swimming pool, exercise facilities, and other amenities that are normally free. Breakfast is not included.”

“The location was HORRIBLE, miles out of the center of town when it's advertised as being in the city center. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. How could this hotel even be rated 4-stars? The staff was horrendous when it came to local information, the location was in a VERY BAD neighborhood for a 4-star hotel, and the rooms were dirty and very small.”

“This is the worst Intercontinental I've every stayed in. More like a Holiday Inn than an Intercontinental. For the price paid it is ok, but for the regular price it is a rip off. Small rooms, slow service etc.”
